Hey guys! I thought my dis peeps may be able to help me out! My family is planning a 5 night trip to Branson at the end of June/beginning of July. We have not been to Branson in years, and we have never been with our 3 little boys. We plan on visiting Silver Dollar City, but not sure what else we might do. What would you guys suggest?

Also I was looking on line and saw what looked like a nice resort with and indoor/outdoor swimming/play area. I believe it was the Welks resort with spla****orium...does anyone know anything about that?

Thanks!

We have been to Branson several times in the past few years. I use a site www.1branson.com/ to help in planning. Their forum isn't nearly as big as the Disboards is, but you can learn a lot of good info and have your questions answered!

Hope this helps!

Paula

We weren't very impressed with the Welk swimming place, I would much rather go to Grand Country Water park

Dixie Stampede
Ride the Ducks
The Showboat Branson Belle
White Water
The Landing
Branson Scenic RailRoad.

PM If you have any question, I live pretty close to Branson

I 2nd the Dixie Stampede. Your kids will love it. Its dinner and a show for not much more than you would spend for a show in Branson.

We go to Branson several times a summer. Here are my tips:

Comfort Inn Thousand Hills. It is not expensive and they are SO FRIENDLY. I am always happy with it. I hated the Welk - and if I remember right, I got ate up by bugs at the Welk because their pool is only outside! That might have changed though... it was several years ago. At the Comfort Inn, you get indoor pool, nice clean rooms, and really nice people at Comfort Inn. For a great price too.

Resturants - OK, I'm picking, but I like Lamberts food but hate the wait. But its a tradition for some people so it be worth it if you are coming from Springfield.

Go to OUTBACK (no, not the outback - this is a local place). Get the gator tail.

Go to Landry's Seafood ($$$ but worth it).

Silver Dollar City - its gotten big enough there is always tons to do. We usually get season passes and its a great deal. There are a lot of nice shows in the park too for people who like shows. If you get the double park thingie you can also go to the water park owned by steal your dollar city (hehe).

We like to go to BRANSON LANDING and there is a nice Mexican place we like there too.

Dixie Stampede is nice. My mom enjoyed that Branson Belle show before it wrecked. They used to have a "Cirque" show that was nice too.

I have had friends go to that big indoor / outdoor waterpark place as you come into town on 76 - i do know that it is super expensive. I have heard both good and bad from people on that one so I haven't jumped at it.

Our absolute favorite, totally cheesy thing to do is go to all, and I mean all, of the mini golf and bumper boat places along the strip. I don't know why, but we love it. And, of course, Silver Dollar City.

Thanks guys for all the info! I will check out the places that you mentioned!

I had no idea that you could get a Silver Dollar City ticket and a water park ticket...we may have to do that and forgo the Welks...we wanted to stay there because we thought it would be like a small Great Wolfe Lodge.

My husband and I honeymooned in Branson, but that was 12 years ago....and it has been about 20 since I have been to Silver Dollar City....so I am excited to see how things have changed!

We have been very lucky to never have to wait more than 20 minutes. We have been to the one near Branson the most, and have been to the Sikeston one several times, and the Foley location just a few months ago. We try to eat at lunch time and get there shortly after it opens.

If you have AAA, you can get a 2-day Silver Dollar City ticket for the price of a 1-day ticket. Also, we really liked the Chinese acrobat show.

Our family's Branson tradition is to get fudge from the 76 Mall. According to everyone in our family - it is the best fudge in the world!

I have heard good things about Bid Cedar Lodge - but we have never stayed there so I can't give specifics.

We're going for a week in July. We get the season pass for Silver Dollar City and White Water, and my kids are happy as clams. We don't really have to spend any more money, get foot discounts, and there is plenty to do.
This year, we're planning on Dixie Stampede and the fish hatchery (it's free), but probably not much else.
SDC has changed a lot and is very kid-oriented.

we visit Branson often. We have SDC/White Water season passes. We seldom stay in the same place. I think Castle Rock is a nice water park hotel. I haven't stayed there, but have friends that have. We usually just pick a cheap, clean place and save money on the hotel. but we've never stayed that long either. It's usually 3 nights max.
My kids love Dixie Stampede. We usually do that a couple of times a year. There is also the Noah show. This is the last year for the show to be in Branson and right now tickets are discounted to $35. We are planning to go next month.
If you are interested in riding go carts/playing mini golf/riding bumper boats go to bransontracks.com. you can buy their go cards online and it is cheaper than buying at the tracks. They have 4 or 5 locations in Branson.
Dick's Five and Dime store downtown is fun. The Tanger Mall is great for shopping. So is Branson Landing!
We love Branson, can you tell? ha ha

and a question that I have, has anyone every been to the Island Fire show? I've tossed around the idea, but I've never talked to anyone that has been.

We have stayed at the Welk resort. The rooms were pretty average for Branson, small beds, pilly sheets, polyester bedding. The splashtorium was really just a slide. Outside they had some splash pads and a dumping bucket. Not sure how old your kids are, but mine were thrilled with it, it was their first time doing a water slide, and it wasn't overwhelming and loud, which was good, it wasn't crowded at all either.
Last year we stayed at Grand Country Inn, which is more Great Wolf like, but not nearly as big or impressive, it had a lazy river, bigger slides, toddler area, hot tubs, which are placed nicely so you can sit and face the big structure with all the slides and see your kids. The kids loved this place even more, i think they are ready for a full size water park now, so we will probably try White Water next time we go to Branson.
If you are looking for a great place to eat, we discovered Chester's and it is our MUST DO every trip now, and honestly I could eat there several times in one trip!
Enjoy your trip!

For shows we like Six, Dixie Stampede, the Haygoods. There are 2 or 3 new zip lines - I don't do them so can't tell you how good they are. The fish hatchery is a nice way to spend the afternoon. I would consider the season pass to SDC so that you could come and go all week. It is not much more and gives you lots of freedom. Don't forget you can rent a boat for a ride on the lake.

I think I just always hit it at the wrong time! I think you have to do exactly what you suggested - lunch, and as early as possible - and then you will have good luck. We always end up there at dinnertime and its packed.
