Help picking a stroller??

I've booked a City Mini double for my 2 in October through City Strollers.

DH is 6'3 and I'm 5'1 and for basic umbrella stroller we loved our Maclaren Volo when the kids were tiny. We actually bought it for our trip to DL in '08.

Which mini double did you decide to go with?

nvm, i see it now. the mini looks kind of wide. the double stroller travel system looks a little bit smaller? not sure. wish i could test drive before we pick ::)

Can't go wrong with anything from Baby Jogger.

The folding mechanism is so easy for getting on and off of any transportation if you need to. The canopy on them for shade is great. They steer so great and easily (I easily do it one handed). The models you posted aren't long or wide at all (we use a City Mini that stays in our trunk for in the mall or when we're downtown for getting around crowds). Ours has a little console on the handlebar and even though only one space is technically a cupholder, we use all 3 for drinks. The handlebar isn't adjustable but my husband is just over 6' tall and has no issues pushing it. Oh! And it goes totally flat-like bed mattress flat-for naps if you want.

The basket underneath can be a bit of a pain but as long as you undo the snaps on one side at the back it helps to make it easier to get bigger things in and out.

Personally, I would do 2 singles instead of the double. I would not want to get a double in some of the stores and some other places (the last two times I've been to DL it's been with clients in wheelchairs and we had troubles in some areas getting around and I can't imagine trying to get around with a double stroller).

Yeah I love our Baby Jogger Strollers. DS will be 3.5 when we go so I think he'll be too big for the Mini so I think we'll have to bring our bigger Elite so he'll be comfortable sitting in it (he's really tall-heck he can go on TOT right now height-wise) even though I'd rather bring the Mini as it's so much easier in crowds.

We are going in september to Disney and are driving from home - That being said we have a Double Bob (rev) the single Bob (rev) and a chico umbrella stroller - while the size of the bob is not really ideal for travel the Chico umbrella stroller is always in the thule box on top of the car - this is the stroller im sure will go with us.
If we need to rent one for both kids we will cross that bridge when we come to it - Bob's are nice for pushing around all day though. The double Bob was well worh it!

I think i'll make a run to R.E.I this weekend and test some strollers out. See if i can't get an idea of what to take. Great feedback from everyone, thx! :wave2:

I have the BJ City Mini and double City Mini GT. The GT version is a little easier to push, has better shocks and the seats have a little more padding. Otherwise, they're very similar. I've seen the BOB at Buy Buy Baby and thought it was too big/bulky for my normal activities.

As for handle height, the GT says adjustable but it won't be that much different for two tall people. The highest adjustment setting on the GT matches the height of the normal, non-adjustable handle on the City Mini. If one adult was significantly shorter, the adjustable handle might be a deciding factor.

I just took the double to Silver Dollar City a few weekends ago, and thought it was great. The suspension on the GT does seem better than the regular BJCM and goes over bumps in your path easily. SDC doesn't have the crowd density problem that DLR has, but they have tons of HILLS! The GT easily went up the hill with ~60 lbs worth of children/stuff inside. Plus, after a few learning attempts, I can now pretty easily take the double through normal doorways, 36" or larger. I will definitely be taking the GT with us to the park, mall, zoo, SDC, etc until DD decides strollers are no longer fun.

I am going to fly to LAX with one of the BJ strollers, just not sure if the double is worth it at the airport. The BJCM is SO easy to collapse, lift up high if needed, pop the wheels off for X-ray machines, etc. I'm not sure the double will be as airport friendly. If I decide to only use the single BJCM, I am going to rent from a second BJCM from City Strollers in Anaheim. I already have my rental reservation made...but I am way indecisive and might do the double instead!

Whew - sorry for the rambling reply (you can tell I've had a similar debate going on about stroller choices) and good luck with your stroller!
