Hi all,

I am trying to plan our trip for Dec and need some TS suggestions for MK. We will be on DDP. I am not generally one for many TS meals at WDW but we are on the ddp because it suits the rest of our group and we are staying with my parents on their DVC points at OKW so we'll do whatever they want. ;)

It looks like The Plaza & Tony's are our only non-character TS options. I like the Plaza's menu but it seems to similar to CS-type food and my picky DH will likely be eating chicken sandwhich's most meals so I rather he have more options if we are at TS. But I am worried Tony's may be to 'fancy' or take too long (compared to Plaza). Any thoughts on this?

I would be up for going to a monorail resort for TS but fear that could take a long time. Kona looks like it suits us menu-wise but again I am worried that it may be too 'fancy'.

**By fancy I mean queit and not meant for people to be showing up in Mickey T-shirts with somewhat dirty & loud little kids. I really never noticed what was acceptble for TS before, but then again it is DISNEY WORLD so maybe I don't have to be so worried??? For some reason Tony's seems more upscale then other TS I've been to and I didn't know if the standard would be different at a resort hotel as opposed to one in a park**

Anyway, any guess as to how much time I would have to budget for a resort TS lunch or dinner?

Any tips appreciated!

We haven't tried Tonys or the Plaza but we loved Kona Cafe and have it booked again this for this year. We also liked the concourse steakhouse at the Contemporary. Neither restaraunt is fancy or quite and there are lots of kids at both places. I think that you would need to set aside around 90 minutes for the dinner and taking the monorail back and forth to MK.

i went to the plaza a few weeks ago with myself and 2 kids. the salad was great and the kids meals are big. i ordered one each and then found out that the kids hamburger was 2 sandwiches. i enjoyed it.
i have been to tonys b4 and the food was so so. i little heavy for me, with the heat and the heavy food made me want to take a nap!!!
just my 2 cents

This would be a great memorable meal for your family. The food is quite decent, the surroundings are top knotch and to top it off you get to see Wishes in a great way. They pipe the music in and it was Fantastic. The boat or Monorail to the Poly is always a short line so you can get there rather quickly. Book it about 45 minutes prior to Wishes going off and you will have a blast. Don't worry about dress codes unless you are going to V&A's.

We love both the Plaza and Tony's...
You will comfortable in both places in "park attire"...there is nothing really fancy about Tony's.
We have reservations for both places during our next trip, so I can't tell you that one is better than the other. The food at the Plaza is a little more "fast food", but they do have great salads and their milkshakes were the best we've had!
As for Tony's, it was really good food and the portions were huge! If you are looking for something that's a little more substantial, then I think that Tony's is a great choice!
I really don't think that you can go wrong either way...it just depends on what kind of fare you want for that meal!
Have a great trip! :goodvibes

Glad to hear we don't have to worry about 'fancy'. I think we'll do Tony's for dinner. I may also do the Plaza for a lunch if I need the addt'l TS. We are spending our first whole day in MK, then another evening just for MVMCP and maybe also our last day so I need options.

Pavil, I am interested in hearing more about seeing Wishes from O'hana. Is it a great view all around or do you need a certain table? How does it compare to actually being at the show? We will also be seeing MVMCP fireworks live & Illuminations so this may be a nice change. And I personally hate the whole getting a good spot and waiting for the fireworks to start routine.

Is this the only restaurant that you can see Wishes from?

Thanks!

I would leave MK for a TS and definately go to Kona. I was always worried to about the dress attire for some of these places, but now I no longer worry. Everyone dresses differently and what is considered dressed up to one person is different to the next. I would not spend so much time worrying about that.
