HELP Payless Car Rental

I have read some horrible reviews for Payless Car Rental and a few good ones. I am nervous about booking with them, but they are over $100 cheaper than the other lowest car rental place I can find. Have any of you ever rented through them? What was your experience?

they are a national brand

their operation here in the Canaveral area gets good reviews

I've used than all up and down the east coast with no problem ... but every office is a different situation.

In some of my most recent experiences, PAYLESS no longer had their own desk at the airport but rather you were directed to another ... I think it was Thrifty ... where at one end would be a small sign that said PAYLESS HERE . . everything still came out fine, but it was a lil un-nerving . . .

note, seldom do people spend time to comment on an OK rental car experience ... but if they have a PROBLEM . . .

too many things can and do go wrong. not worth the savings IMO

I have used them several times and had no problems. This was all before 2010 so YMMV today.

Payless is one of a few rental companies that reserves the right not to rent to you if you decline their collision coverage and you don't have comparable coverage on your own car at home that extends to rental cars. A credit card is not good enough. L&M and EZ are two other companies with this rule.

They probably won't invoke that rule every time but if it is Daytona Week or other very busy time then they might.

Payless is the only rental company that we have said we would NEVER rent through again. Our bad experience was in Las Vegas, but it was bad enough to say never again ANYWHERE.
