HI all again! Groom with a mission. We're doing a 9/10/11 DREAM wedding on Castaway Cay. We have a reasonably BIG wedding, but a small wedding party. We just were talking to Shanda, and she was telling us that with teh timing of the wedding, 10AM, there would only be 2 people AT MOST that could get hair done onboard. THIS is a big problem, because both of them are going to be my DW. She has a LOT of hair.

Have any of the previous DCL brides brought a hair person onboard? Any recommendations? (Personally, as a groom, I'm seeing a $1500 hairdo.. but what do I know. :confused3 . )

Any help or suggestions would be great!

Thanks!

BD

i do not have a suggestion per se, but that made me laugh!

how many hairs, other than the hair endowed DW of yours, need grooming? do you have friends etc.. that have these skills? i've heard of people bringing their photographers as guests in exchange for services, but i can't imagin something coming up in less than a year would have terribly affordable cabins still available (hence your $1500 hair do idea).

i think my idea would be to find out here or on the DCL wedding thread (if you haven't seen it) how hard it is to get your hair booked first of all (can you get a 100% confrimation that at least she can get her hair done). then, if i were her, i'd be working with my hair dresser on things i could do and take lots of pictures. because, truth be told, if i had no way of even knowing who the heck was coming at me with a brush on the morning of my wedding, i'd rather do something i was confident would look good myself. also, if she has this many hairs, lots of the long haired ladies get blow outs and they last a bit. so maybe even just a professional blow out the night before on the ship combined with a practiced "do" learned in consultaion with a great hair dresser is the answer.

or maybe just go parasailing for your ceremony on castaway cay and that will take care of everything!!!!

good luck!!!:thumbsup2

Maybe you could join your cruise meet thread on the DCL boards and who knows maybe you might get lucky and find someone who is a stylist that would be willing to lend a hand. I think I am going to have the same problem with having 4 of us needing services. Only thing working for me is that my ceremony will be on the ship, in the afternoon the same day we are in the Bahamas... Push comes to shove I can get off the boat to get my hair done. Good luck!

Just to clarify, I have 6 heads to get groomed. We have the Bride, MOH, bridesmaid and 3 mothers. To my mind, the 3 mothers all have short hair which they all do capably. BUT I do understand the importance of the big day.

I'll look at the roll cal, but ts pretty dead so far. I may need to liven it up! Maybe one of the other brides on our cruise is there!

Thanks for the ideas!

I have the same issue! I'm going on the Jan 26-29, 2012 cruise with our wedding on Jan 28 on Castaway Cay. I have 4 bridesmaids (the flower girls we're not worrying about) plus my hair. And what we have decided (as of right now) is I'm going to be the only one to actually get my hair done on the ship. One of my girls who is walking with our flower girls does hair, so she is going to be doing our bridesmaids because we're not doing anything too ridiculously fancy. We're just going to do a simple curl and half back.
