We will be there in early July and will have to pack for 10 days. It'll be me, DH and DS (9). We normally take 2 suitcases and 1 carry on each person. Since it'll be hot and sweaty, I'm wondering if I'll need extra clothing. I really don't want to HAVE to do laundry if I don't have to but I'm worried that 10 days of clothing for three ppl may be too heavy for two cases or not fit! We'll be packing shorts and shirts plus 2-3 pairs of footwear per person. We will probably also buy a few souvenirs. What has your experience been for this length (or longer)? Will we most likely end up having to do laundry after say 5 days? Need strategies!

We have gone several times so what we usually do is around the third day there I take a little time while the family is in the pool and do some laundry. I usually do a white and a dark load. If we took enough luggage for all five of us we'd never get on the plain! :rotfl2: You can get quarters for the washers at the front desk and I usually go to Walmart or another store to get soap and fabric softner. It only takes an hour or two out of your day. HAVE FUN ON YOUR TRIP!

I agree that it's a good idea to plan to do laundry mid-trip (especially in summer, when you get so sweaty). It's a nice break from the parks. Then you can pack half the clothes you would normally take.

Take it from a normally compulsive over-packer - don't take so many clothes! I could have taken half (or even a third) of the clothes I brought on my trip last October.

Well, I did set up our schedule for early afternoon breaks every day so I suppose it wouldn't be so bad to put in a day of laundry. Yuk! :goodvibes

are between 8-12 nights and we have never done a load of laundry in 28 years, even when our kids were still young. We always pack one suitcase and one carryon per person. Now that its just me and the wife, it hasn't changed other then type of suitcases. We each have a rolling duffle type bag and one carry on. We pack wisely, one pair of shoes on our feet and one pair in the bag plus flip flops. Cut down on the toiletries and keep clothes to a minimum, we each know that we will wear, per day,, and pack a few extra shirts. In all our trips we have brought home some stuff that we never wore, thats over packing, and doing wash on vacation is a no no to us, we go on vacation to do just that, relax and break away from the home routine.

We do a load or two of laundry on longer trips even though it is just the two of us. I don't mind it when we are taking an afternoon break by the pool to throw a load or two in. Summer packing is so much easier because tank tops take up less room, but one wash will let me wear my favs again....and saves room for souviniers!
