Hi, I need some help

I have booked the trip to orlando from 12/25 to 1/1. But when I tried to book a rental car at MCO, the price is totally....

well, I understand it is a holiday season, but does anyone know a way to get a cheaper deal

right now, the best one I can get is 300.00 from hotwire at MCO

thank you very much

Ain't no easy way.

1. Your fingers will have to do an immensely long walk through the yellow pages on a daily basis to hopefully coincide with a coupon special.

Or on line, check out Mousesavers.com for discount codes. Then go to each rental car's web site in turn and plug in the matching discount codes to see what you get. Repeat every coupl'a days.

2. See if a friendly travel agent can help.

3. Travelocity.com will, all in one sitting, give a bunch of rental companies' current prices which may change from day to day (but not special sale prices).

For a family of four, if the kids don't mind holding suitcases on their laps for the first leg from MCO to resort and the last leg from resort to MCO, you can actually get by with a tiny tiny car.

Try this link.. http://www.mousesavers.com/rentalcar.html We were able to get a more reasonable rate after some searching. It was still more than I wanted to spend, but.... what can you do? I didn't regret renting the car, because the bus service wasn't so great from POR.

Thanks, smart cookie

your info is really, really, really helpful. just booked it and saved 150!

would like to thank everyone who put input to this post as well

have a good day

Try Dollar fullsize with the CD number of OL5040.... comes to $179.00

Someone earlier posted the code...I'm going to call Dollar and make sure i can use it ....I'm traveling the same time...and it is an awesome rate..

I can't seem to get rentalcodes.com site to come up. Anyone know what the AVIS codes are? Is Avis on-site at the airport?

Rentalcodes site won't work for me either today...hope it comes up again...as the OL5040 code is for a fruit company....I'd need id....so I'll keep trying...

I just can't pay $1200 for 15days with a minivan..

No ID needed for the OL5040 code. The fruit company is a travel agent and that's the discount rate they offer to their customers. Don't wanna mention their name here since they sell tickets at a discount also and don't wanna get them in trouble.

But the OL5040 in the CD number is very valid and VERY cheap.

Another suggestion is, if you're looking for a minivan (and they are sold out EVERYWHERE or very expensive) is to book a luxury car. They're the same price with OL5040 $239.00 plus tax per week, and they seat 6 comfortably.

Just book it directly at dollar.com

Actually there is a Rocker Fruit company...so I don't think it is a Travel agent... www.rockerfruit.com

but I'm still going to try out the Code with a back up in place....

That's them! Glad someone figured out their name. They're a travel agent now. We went to buy fruit there and they do discount tickets (good prices at Arabian Nights! FYI) and cruises and the rental cars and all.

Funny, they said the fruit business is all dead...but they're keeping the name since they have a built in clientele.

Have a DISNEYful trip!!

I've been having a hard time getting my National 5 day full size ER rate down from the $217 I snagged a month or so ago (this is with $15 Vacation Outlet coupon from mousesavers and DC discount). My dates are 12/18-12/23.

Needless to say the past few weeks all I keep getting for prices from National is over $300!!!

Well today I struck gold! I decided to try the special on the National site for $189 for full size and with my DC discount and the $15 coupon my new total w/taxes & fees is $174!!!

I would give it another try for there ''specials to go" and if it still doesn't go down then wait until your 30 day mark and try again. I'm thinking that's why I got a lower price today than when I tried last week when they extended the dates for the specials it was well over $300.

Good luck!

I think that the rental car companies have monpolized the industry, engaged in anti competitive practices, and price fixing and should be penalized by the FTC. If you agree please make a complaint about the fixed prices that the rental car companys have put into place. Notice how expensive it is to rent a car. It wasn't that way a year ago. What happened? Dollar thrifty was recently purchase by Hertz. Enterprise and National were purchased by Alamo. Get the picture?

Simply put- No Competition. Write the rental car companies and tell them what you think. Write the FTC and tell then what you think as well.

Another bump of a very old thread - this time from NINE years ago. You appear to have some kind of agenda here. If you really have something to contribute, why not start your own thread?

Two different threads, both from years ago, but with the exact same two responses. Not sure what the deal is, but it is a little wonky.
