Hi all,

I will be in the parks over Martin Luther King day and I'm not sure how to plan for crwds. I'm sure any strategies you have for long weekends would apply (Memorial day, Columbus Day, Labour Day, etc...)

I will be in the area for 5 days. We have a bunch of other things we want to do in the area so I am limited to about 2 1/2 days at the parks. We are arriving on Friday, Jan 16 around supper and leave early morning on Wednesday the 21st.

This leaves me with the following options ...
* The evening of Friday the 16th
* Saturday the 17th (long weekend)
* Sunday the 18th (long weekned)
* Monday the 19th (MLK day)
* Tuesday the 20th (no fireworks, closes earlier)

I was probably going to go for a little bit on Friday evening when we get there. With the "pay the childs price", we get 3 days for the price of 2 and I don't really have time for 3 days in the parks.

Help me decide which days to go !! It's a long w/e so I don't know which days would be best. I'd rather not do 2 days back to back if I can help it and may as well take advantage of the MM if I can. I'd like to see the fireworks which are scheduled on Sat-Sun-Mon so I need one day in there.

Tell me what combination of days would work best over the long weekend...
I would like to go for a bit on Friday evening (day 1)
Day 2 and 3, go either:
Sat/Mon (both long opening hours but crowded)
or Sat/Tues (Sat should be crowded, Tues would be OK but closes earlier)
or go Sun/Tues (same as above I think ??)

HELP!!! :teacher:

Oh !! Forget to mention that the NAMM convention is in town on the Friday 16th - with 75,000 attendees !!!!!!! :scared1: I assume some of these people will hang around the parks for the w/e...

Bumping !

Someone must have been to the parks on long weekends !! There's gotta be some tips to give as to which of the 3 days would be best !!

Hey CanadaJulie,

I have always said that the thread that make me the mot curious on here are the "What will the crowds be like?" questions because no one has a crystal ball. Yes, there are some general patterns, but throw in the economy's current state, weather, etc. and no one truly knows the answer to your question.

That said....

MLK weekend is even harder to predict because not all schools / companies give that one as a holiday.

In general, however, Friday night, Sat. and Sun. are the busiest. However, Monday IS a holiday for some so that adds Monday into your mix as a busy day.

Since you said you want to go Friday, not go 2 days back to back AND want to see fireworks, you may have answered your own question: Friday, Sunday, Tuesday OR Friday, Sunday, Monday on the "not everyone has Monday off" theory if you don't mind 2 days in a row.

I have no clue if this helps you at all, but since no one else was replying I thought I would try. Again, my crystal ball is not any better than anyone else's so my true advice would be: Pick the days you want to go based on your other plans and figure out the answer to the better question: "What is the best way to enjoy Disneyland if crowded?"

There are GREAT answers to that question - and they don't required any crystal balls into the future. :wizard:
