Need some opinions on switching my ADRs. I already have a 6:20pm ressie at 'Ohana on 11/23. But I also have a ressie for the Spirit of Aloha show on 11/26.

Should I switch to a DTD rest.? Since we are staying at POR? Or should we give somewhere alse a try? I'm going crazy trying to make up my mind, but in a good way!

Some one with some fresh eyes would be welcome!

Here are my ressies:

hoop dee doo
The Plaza
LTT
SCi Fi
Hollywood & Vine
Ohana
Coral Reef
Le Cellier
Boatwrights (B)
Aloha Show
1900 Park Fare (B)

Also: We're on the deluxe dining

My parents (both 70's )
My 2 daughters (9 & 10)
My husband and myself will be going

You sound like me! We are going to be there at the same time and doing the spirit of Aloha and 'Ohana's for dinner and breakfast!! The ONLY thing my husband asked if we could please do is the Spirit of Aloha. We are actually doing that Thanksgiving night! Can't wait!
Last May we stayed at the French Quarters. We went to 'Ohana for breakfast. We took the bus to MK and hopped on the monorail and it worked out great. However, at Port Orleans you can just hope on the boat and head to DTD and that is nice and easy to do.
If you are planning your day at MK or Epcot it will be easy to get to 'Ohana's. Good Luck. Long story short, don't skip 'Ohana's we all loved it!

We are leaving Thanksgiving Day. But we are doing 1900 Park Fare before we go. I'f I keep 'Ohana's I'm just hoping that the food is not like the Aloha show.

Gosh, too many decisions.

Not sure where we're going to end up that day. That day is wide open. And with the Extra Magic hours not posted yet, it's going to be open for awhile.

Any other opinions out there?

Trust me, 'Ohana's food is nothing like the Luau show. I am sad to report that the Luau food was sub par for us. We kinda liked the ribs, but that's about it. The show was not good (we LOVE Hoop Dee Doo, and will never miss it again!). I hope you have a different experience, but for us, all the bad reviews warnign us off were true and I wish I had listened.

'Ohana's on the other hand gets great reviews, has MUCH more variety than the Luau. So no worries there!

We like to go to Ohana for dinner and then go out and watch the water pageant and fireworks from the beach. There are not usually very many people out watching it. Then we take the monorail or boat back to Magic Kingdom and go on rides til MK closes. We have never done the Aloha. When our kids were small they enjoyed the coconut races and other activities they had for kids at Ohana. They have always liked the meat that was served (I think the grilled turkey was their favorite) and they liked the rice or noodles and vegetables that was served. They are picky eaters so we were always glad to find food they would eat. The side dishes seem to change a little each time we go back so I am not sure what they are now but the meat seems to be grilled beef, turkey, pork and shrimp.

Sounds like I'm probably going to keep Ohana. But know I'm not so sure about the Spirit of Aloha.

Maybe it's not worth the 2 DDP credits.?

Hoop dee doo - we did last time and are doing it again on 11/20. Can't miss that!

Thanks for the opinions. If anyone has any other suggestions, please post!

I would definately keep 'Ohana for dinner. We feel that the food and games are great. We haven't been that impressed with the Downtown Disney restaurants though.

We're doing both Ohana and Spirit of Aloha. But we're doing Ohana for breakfast. Here's our thinking: We like to try as many things as possible. My DD LOVES Lilo and Stitch, so we definitely wanted to do the breakfast. But the food at Ohana for dinner sounds SO yum, that I was actually thinking of doing it twice. However, DH was flipping through my Passporter and found SoA and suggested it instead of Ohana for dinner. The food SEEMS similar enough, so we decided to do it that way. We have a restaurant here in Atlanta that sounds a lot like Ohana called Fogo de Chao. It's SO YUM so I was eager to try it! :)

Just trust me. The food is *not at all* the same between 'Ohana and SoA. If you go in hoping for that, you will be disappointed. Hopefully your kids will like the SoA show, at least.

I am doing O'hana instead of the Luau. I recommend Cali Grill during Wishes for 2 TS credits. It is my favorite. :)

DH and I just ate at 'Ohana 2 weeks ago and were seriously not impressed. I really can't think of almost anything good to say about it. The salad and dessert were not bad. If for some reason we were ever forced to go back, we would tell them to skip all the other courses and just do a bunch of dessert! :) I have a feeling all of those good reviews came from a long time ago and the resturant has just slid downhill badly since then.

There are tons of great reviews from recently! I think just some nights will be better than others, and personal tastes will vary!

Thanks everybody!

I'm taking my parents for their 1st time EVER to Disney World! I just want things to be the best they can be. After reading all the reviews I think I'm still as confused as ever... Ugh!

I appreciate all the help. You guys rock!:thumbsup2

I went to the Ohana last August and was not impressed at all. The atmosphere was nice but thought the food was not good. I would go to DTD instead if I had a choice. Good luck!

We ate at Ohana last month and it was our most favorite place, the food was fantasic!

Perhaps you should think about whether your party would like to be observers: Luau :hippie:
or
Participate in activities (Hula, Cocoanut races, limbo, etc.): O'hana dinner

The food is different at the two, with O'hana being most people's preference.

I personally go to O'hana the first night of my trips to Disney! You have tons of atmosphere and friendly interaction, and can watch the water pageant and wishes from the beach!...Very relaxing and magical!:tinker:

I enjoy the salad, wings, shrimp, turkey, and dessert at O'hana. I won't eat the sausage, and the rest is okay....That is plenty of tasty food to me. You don't have to like everything and can get more of what you do. I understand that they will get kids regular kids fare if they don't like the meal as well.

( My 9 year old wouldn't miss going here!) My 2c...Hope this helps pooh:

My 76 old dad and my 72 old step-mom love O'hanas and Hoop de do. The Luau seating may not be comfortable for older folk. It is definately not worth 2 TS. The food is mediocre, service poor, and show (what you can see of it and we were in a Tier 1 seating) boring. Our experience at the luau was not good.

I did the Luau and 'Ohana last week and don't regret a thing. Both were wonderful meals and I would do it again if I had the choice. In fact I'm going to bring my mom to 'Ohana Labor Day Weekend because I enjoy it so much!!!
