Hi - so we are going to WDW in just 2 weeks and so excited! I have a really good friend and her family (2 adults and 3 small kids) that want to meet us (2 adults and 2 small kids) for lunch or dinner. They live about hour 1/2 away so just coming up to visit with us and of course won't have park passes or staying on site.

What I am looking for is a restaurant that is not at one of the parks - could be at a resort or Downtown Disney.... that would be fun to do with the kids (we have T-Rex already planned another day) and possibly something close by that we could walk to or do with the kids that wouldn't be overly expensive before or after we eat.

I know that is a tall order but any suggestions would be extremely helpful!

Whispering canyon at the wilderness lodge is good food and lots of fun for kids. If you ask for ketchup at your table you will get every bottle in the restaurant. The kids will get a kick out of this!

Hmm... YES Whispering Canyon would be a great suggestion....

Beaches & Cream (no reservations) would be nice as well but they do fill up fast...

I LOVE "Ohana but that is breakfast and dinner...

so maybe dinner there...

Have a magical visit !
Mary

I agree with Whispering Canyon....it's fun and the food is good! Then you can walk to Fort Wilderness and do Chip & Dales Campfire sing-a-long..and roast marshmallows!

Or what about a restaurant in the Beach or Yacht Club (Captain's Grille, Cape May Cafe) or Boardwalk and then do Beaches N Cream for dessert...and walk around the Boardwalk, sit and watch a movie on the beach at the Beach Club or stay and watch Illuminations from the bridge going to Epcot from those resorts!

Thank you so much for the ideas! I was thinking about dinner and then "Chip & Dales Campfire sing-a-long" but didn't know if they would be allowed to come to that as they are not resort guests???!! :confused3

I don't think anyone would notice! :thumbsup2 I'd go for it!!!

Boma and Sanaa at AKL are good restaurants. You can walk around the lodge and visit the viewing spots on the savanas. You can get really close-up views of the animals. At night they have folk tales by the fire.

I thought the same thing... however wasn't sure if they would ask for resort ID's like in the pool areas of the resorts. :confused3 We are staying at All Star Movies and thought it would be fun to just enjoy the pool area, but read they check resort ID's and don't want to promise the kids pool and then not let them swim.

Yeah was thinking something like that but thought those restaurants might be pretty expensive for all of us. But I'll take a look at the menus because think that animal viewing would be fun!

The campfire sing a long at Fort Wilderness is not restricted to resort guests. Anyone can go. There is a boat that goes from Wilderness Lodge to Fort Wilderness, I think the blue flag route. I'm not sure if there's a bus that goes to the Settlement Depot, but the Lodge cast members can tell you.

There is also Trails End buffet at Fort Wilderness. You could go there first and then the campfire. You could also do take out from there and eat on the beach watching the boats come in.
