Help! Newbie Questions

So I am thinking about getting AmyMickey's transfers for all the shirts that I am doing with the wonderful designs that the designers here have provided me with. The question I have has to do with what will actually be ironed onto the shirts. For instance......Mickey Heads.....especially with designs that are not totally contained within the head. Did I read somewhere correctly that all the "white" is transparent.......in other words the design will not have a white background behind/around it.

If anyone has any suggestions for ensuring that I get this right without using up a bunch of transfers needlessly I would appreciate them.

I used Amy's transfers when I made shirts for our trip last summer. They are very easy to use and she has great directions.

The transfers Amy sells are dark transfers. That means that anything that is white in the design will show up white on the shirt. Also, if you do not trim the design closely and then put it on a colored shirt you will have white show around the design.

Here is an example of a design that Donatalie made for me. I trimmed all the white from around the design so that it would not show on the pink shirts, but the center is still white.
