I am new here and just joined dvc.

i got 160 one but in 2010 am planning a big holiday and need extra points, can i buy them as a 1 off? and how much are they

Thanks.

Not sure I understand your question. If you're asking can you buy points from DVC for just one year, the answer is no. You're buying a real estate interest that's good for up to 50 years (depending on where you buy)

With banking and borrowing, you could triple your 160 point contract and have 480 points available for 2010.

If you need more than that you could rent points from someone for that one year, and have them transferred into your account. You can look at the Rent/Trade board and estimate going prices. Expect to pay at least $10/point, and by 2010 it probably will be be a few dollars more as dues go up and renters will raise their prices.

You can't buy extra points from Disney to use for a year as you suggest. What most would do for something as you describe would be one of a couple things.

If points owned are adequate, many would to use the banking and borrowing rules to get up to three times the normal annual amount and use them that way for higher point reservations. Of course, that can pretty much deplete's the points from the other two years.

Others will have another member transfer points to them for such occasions, for a fee though technically there is supposed to be no monetary compensation for transfers. You would post your needs on the rent/trade board and pay someone for the extra points for that year.

Thank you for your help we were a bit confussed as the driver said you could buy extra points on your credit card if you needed them. The way he made it sound was say you needed 300 points you could just buy 300 points for that holiday.

I would probably need 600 extra points so that would cost a lot so I will look at another way of doing it.

Thanks again.
