A guy I had been seeing off and on 2 yrs ago, moved to montana, a yr ago. I have talked him occasionally, but the calls have been coming more often since the new year. He called about a week ago and invited us to come visit. I told him, I really didnt have the money to spend right now, considering i have a trip to disney planned, and i am not sure of what i want to become of the relationship, but that is a whole other topic. Well he said he was buying the tickets for me and my daughter to come, my son is off to college, at the time we could go. And he has taken all of the preasure off about there being a commitment if i come out. So it looks like for spring break, we will be going to montana. Not exactly warm weather, but Im from upstate NY I am used to cold.

He and his daughter(yes he has custody) Live outside of Missoula. So if you were going to be there for a week, what should we do, see, where are the not to miss places to eat, etc. He has been there only a year so, i am not sure how much he has seen and done, with working.

Outside Missoula -like in Darby or does he have a Missoula address?? that country is spectaularly beautiful and in a March time frame there should still be enough snow for things like snow mobiling and cross country skiing. CouerD'Alane Idaho is also incredibly beautiful-but theres a pretty good pass between there and Missoula that might be tough in the winter. I havent actually been up there in about 20 years so im sure the sites to see have changed some. Most of the real sites in yellowstone and around challis idaho will be snow covered in march.

Our spring break is actually the end of april, school here goes to the very end of june. Florence is actually the name of the town

isnt htere anybody here from montana:confused3

There are a few but the ones I know live on the other side of the state. I don't know that area very well....but you will have fun just exploring if you are the outdoor kind.

Have fun (and iN April it isn't all that cold...it's not hot either though)

It is beautiful country. Go to the hot springs - make sure you do this. They are wonderful - just like a hot tub. It is still cool that time of the year and possibly snow on the ground. I have been twice to MT (1989 & 92) - once in May and the other in July. If you can, take and go to Yellowstone. What a beautiful ride and scenery. My Dh Father still lives in Bozeman. My DH was looking at going out the end of April beginnng of May. Horseback riding is fun also then go to the Hot Springs to relax. The silver/copper mines are neat. Just go and enjoy. It might be too early for a Rodeo. The local towns have rodeos, we went to Livingston to see one but that was in July. Have fun!

In Missoula there is a very fun Carousel, also a lot of nice artist co-ops, we go to one every year to buy fused glass jewelry and handcrafted wood pieces.

Another vote here for Lake Coeur d'Alene (area). It's about an hour and half from Missoula, but well worth spending a day there. :thumbsup2
