Although I've been a member for a loooong time, this is the first time I've ever posted on this board. Please forgive me if I make a faux pas or post in the wrong thread.

Here's my concern: I have a yearly reunion with a bunch of dear college friends (4 couples and 1 single, including spouse and myself). We usually go to a lake house owned by one of them, but we were thinking of doing something more exotic next summer for our 25th reunion. I would like to offer a grand villa at OKW for this purpose, and hoped that some of you would have suggestions for me.

1) What would be a fair price to charge my friends (they are expecting to pay a share of whatever we do, but I want it to be reasonable)?

2) One of my friends is disabled and uses a motorized scooter. She does not need a roll-in shower, but cannot do stairs. I'm thinking OKW would be the best, and maybe only, option. Am I correct?

3) Are there any pitfalls or suggestions anyone has who has done something similar?

I can't help you with the price. It would depend if you want to get the same price as renting points to a stranger or you want to have some fun with a great bunch of friends and get a little of your money back. You could split the number of points between everyone and charge them 10.00 a point and it wouldn't be that expensive for that nice of accommodations. Tough call! SSR has HA rooms and they have elevators. Also their GV has upstairs access for people to come and go without bothering the people downstairs. The GV's at OKW are bigger so that might enter into your decision. SSR is very nice through. We vacation about every other year with a group of friends from church and old high school friends and we try to remember that not everyone will want to do the same things, so we try to do our own thing during the day and then meet back together for supper and the evening and exchange stories of what went on during the day. Everyone seems to like that arrangement and you don't feel like you have to do something that you aren't interested in doing. Good Luck!!! :grouphug:

If you do OKW, request a GV in an elevator building. Do NOT request handicapped, because you will get a roll in shower and a wheelchair accessible kitchen, and that might make it a bit inconvenient if you don't need those things. All but one of the GV's are on the second floor, so an elevator building would be essential, and that would mean building 63, since it is the only elevator building with GVs. You might also consider a GV at SSR, since all of those buildings have elevator access.

As to what to charge... I would look at what the trip is costing you...i.e. how many of your total points are you using? Then take the cost of maintenance for those points and divide your charges up that way. You could also base it on $10/point if that makes more sense to you. The OKW GV would be so wonderful because of its size and the flow of the common areas. I don't feel like the SSR GVs have that same flow.

We have booked a GV at OKW for next March. We do need to have access for a wheelchair, but didn't necessarily need a roll in shower. We were told that the only GV at OKW that were wheelchair accessible (i.e. in the elevator building or entrance on the ground floor) were the ones with the roll in showers. In order to get it as a guarantee rather than just a request, we did have to have our reservation listed as "wheelchair accessible".
As always with MS, until we get there, we won't know if that's really true or not.
