Help needed with Illuminations Cruise from Boardwalk, please

I was lucky enough to book an Illuminations cruise for December. I got the last boat that goes out of Boardwalk, not the Beach and Yacht Club. The Disney reservationist could only tell me that I go to the Community Hall area to find the boat. I proceeded to ask where the Community Hall was located at the Boardwalk. I didn't get a good answer and then I was told to ask a CM there to guide me to the right place.

I don't like leaving this to chance. I have no clue about the Community Hall. I know where ESPN is located and Spoodles, etc. but I don't know this place. I really would like the info in advance and I'm hoping someone here can give me some better directions as to where this Illumination's boat is located at the Boardwalk. Thanks for the help.

Here is a map of the Boardwalk Resort from Deb's site. Community Hall is marked "W" on this map. It is on the right side beside the Villas quiet pool.

To get to Community Hall..

if you are coming from the front of the resort.. aka street side.. when you come in the lobby you are one floor above ground level.. you can walk straight ahead, out the glass doors and down the steps to the Boardwalk. Follow the sidewalk towards Wyland Gallery ("K"), but turn before it and go thru a short tunnel. You will go pass the health club ("J") and arcade. You will come out in front of Luna Park, the big pool ("X"). Take the sidewalk around the pool to the left, follow it along and then continue around the hotel building. As you come around the building you will be walking along the waterway. In just a few more steps, you will see the quiet pool. Community Hall is beside it with its back to the waterway.

if you are coming from the Boardwalk.. walk along the Boardwalk past the surry rentals. Turn on the sidewalk that goes along the grass towards the hotel lobby. Right after you pass the Wyland Gallery, turn right into the tunnel and the rest is as above.

Hope this helps. The map here on The DIS site is clearer than the one from Deb's, but has Community Hall marked wrong!

Hi

We did the illumination cruise from the boardwalk last March. It was the best thing ever!!! You will have a blast.

CoolDisneyCat (luv the name) gave excellent directions to the community hall, but I thought I would just point out again, that you meet your driver at the end of the dock,. The dock is very close to spoodles (thats where we ate that night, and I have to say this resteraunt and Jiko are my top two fav's). You cant miss the dock. You will see the pontoon boat docked at the end of it, off to one side. I believe its the same dock that the "Friendship" boat that shuttles people from the boardwalk and epcot gateway. (Someone could correct me on that if I'm wrong).

Anyways, I noticed that our Captain was getting the boat all ready about 10 minutes before they told us to be there. So we went down at that time. His name was Jeff, and he was fantastic. This truly was my favorite disney evening. I hope you have a great time

We did the cruise from BW in August 2002 and we met our driver on the boat dock - which is smack in the middle of the actual Boardwalk area. You can't miss it.

Jeff is a blast!! You can go early to the Community hall to introduce yourself as his party for the cruise if you like but all you need to do is show up at the dock on the boardwalk (the MGM and EPCOT boat dock)and he will be there to pick you up. We usually wait on the bench on the boardwalk near the dock gate. You can also get to the hall by walking down the boardwalk to Jelly rolls go behind the buildings and walk the walkway to MGM along the water you will see the hall to your left and the boat dock behind it on the right. Have FUN!!

We also had jeff and the kids loved singing YMCA on the way back to the dock. Also if you ask any Cm they will be glad to point you in the right direction . It was one of our highlights of the trip.

Thats Him all right. He was a riot. He made us feel completely comfortable and kept the kids entertained the whole time. What a great picture! We have him on video, and it makes me laugh every time we watch that part. What on earth was he doing in a detectives outfit?
Boy, just remembering that night has just given me a huge Disney smile.
