Help Needed Which lodge is Better?

Hello to all, My family and I will be going back to the world Dec.4 -10 and we usually stay in the Epcot resort area. So I was wondering if you could choose either AKL or WL which one would you choose and way? Thanks in advance for your help!

We have stayed at both lodges & were very pleased with each. Gorgeous surroundings, very nice rooms, awesome lobby, but we prefer the WL due to its location. At the AKL you have to bus everywhere, whereas the WL has some boat options. Just our preference. I don't think you would be disappointed with either.

We love WL. It is very convenient to other resorts & parks. The large boat goes WL/FW/MK (any order). The small boat goes WL/CR/FW (any order). There is also a direct bus to TTC which is right next door to the Poly. Thus, you have a ton of resturants to choose from without transfering at a park or DTD.

Plus, WL is so beautiful.

WL! I agree that both are great, but if I had the opportunity to go during the Christmas season, I'd select WL because its decorations are wonderful.

My DW and I stayed there in May and had a terrific time. At check-in, the CM upgraded us to a courtyard view room (no charge). We had a blast with a number of CMs there. I became great friends with one of the ladies at the Pin Station near Artist Point -- we swapped pins and stories several times. Our mousekeeper made us two "bunny" toothbrush holders from washcloths after our 1st night and later on left us a little "duck!" And one of the CMs at the bus stop greeted us several times with "Where are you kids going today?" That was a terrific way to head out to the parks.

Great pool, wonderful beach (great to watch the EWP from), Artist Point for dinner, Whispering Canyon for breakfast, Roaring Forks for snacks, a 7-story fireplace with ROCKERS!!!

I could easily LIVE at WL.

I have to say AKL because I really enjoyed watching the animals - so different than what I normally can experience at resorts.

I will throw in my vote for AKL although you may have already made up your mind to do WL.

We visited WL and stayed at AKL in Dec. We thought that AKL was so much more cozy and warm. We loved the lobby area of AKL over the WL, even though they are similar in design.

The restaurant - Whispering Canyon - at WL (which we visited and really enjoyed) makes the atmosphere much more busy feeling. I like the fact that at AKL you never felt like that many other people were at the resort (even though it wasn't empty by any means). I like that the restaurants and Victoria Falls are convenient to the lobby, but are not in the mainstream of the lobby.

I also loved the store at AKL over the one at WL. It is very large and roomy and the CMs were wonderful.

The extra activities - the fire pits and storytelling, the animals that you can view from several spots (even with a standard view room) with the added benefit of CMs to ask questions about the various animals and the night goggles made it a special spot.

I also think that the dedicated bus to AKL was a great one! We wanted to get to the monorail resorts one day, and I thought we would never get where we wanted with all of the stops.

The trees and decorations are a sight to see at both resorts, but I much preferred the AKL warmth to the WL openness.

Another vote for AKL. We didn't care much for WL when we stayed there. It is indeed gorgeous but the CM's at AKL were so much more friendly. They seemed to go out of their way to make everything so magical.
