Help Needed... Student Discounts Out & About In California

ok, let me explain. I am a regular visitor to California and Disneyland. In September 2014, I returned to college as a mature student and I am almost finished year 1 of a 4 year degree. I have my college ID which has my photo, course details and college name and address and an Irish Student travelcard card, which also has my photo. In Ireland, I can get discounts in food places like McDonalds, clothes shops and entry into attractions and shows.

In California what kinds of places give student discounts and would my Irish college ID be accepted? I know in Ireland many places don't advertise their student discounts and you just ask and show your ID when paying.

Movie theaters and museums, mostly. Some places near schools might offer one, but it would be up to the business to decide if they only accept that school's ID or any student ID.
