For our first trip home, if we book a one bedroom and then other times go with a Studio, will this be very dissappointing?

As I have a December use year at SSR basically will have two years worth of points, correct me if I'm wrong, that would be 316 (for one bedroom) for a week at X-mas with 84 points left over for another time in 2005.

Am I doing this right?

Thanks in Advance, for any and all info.

Do you have a 200 point contract with a Dec. UY? That means you get 200 points on Dec.1 for 2003 and another 200 on Dec. 1 2004. If you bank the 2003 points into 2004, you will have all 400 for 2004. Those December UY confuse me, because you get your points at the end of the year instead of the beginning. Also, I am not sure if SSR purchasers are getting an extra set of points for 2003?

AS for the dissapointing part... We don't stay in studios at all. Just can't live without that whirlpool and in room laundry!;)

If you have 200 points and are banking all 2003's into 2004 and the Christmas week is 316 points, then yes you would have 84 to use between December 04 and November 05 (make sure to use your banked points first). You could bank those 84 points however into the next year and have 284 available from December 05 and November 06.

Once you get used to a one or two bedroom it is very hard to go back to a studio.

Good luck.

yes, plus your 2005 points, but check out when you have until to bank the 84 points if you cant plan another vacation before then, just i case you want to use them at xmas time again.

my own personal opinion on studio verses 1 bedroom, im kind of tight with my points i would rather stay longer on vacation then to stay in a 1 bedroom with a full kitchen that i know i wont use, we enjoy going out to eat.

dont get me wrong, the 1 bedrooms and 2 bedrooms are great.

we had a chance to stay in a 2 bedroom this pass aug. because something happened to our room at the yatch club, anyways the 2 bedroom was great lots of space, washer/dryer, etc.
we only used the refrig. and the coffee pot, is which the studio has a refrig. and coffee pot.
im for staying longer vacations
;)

I just wanted to make an additional comment about studio v. one bedroom stays. We have done both. Just enjoyed my first stay in a studio at OKW in August - our previous DVC stays have always been in one or two bedroom villas. It was fine! It's a great way to stretch points and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I do prefer the larger villas but our OKW studio was plenty big enough for the 4 of us. The bathroom was large and the patio added even more personal space.

On the flip side, DH and I will be celebrating our 10th anniversary in a few weeks at Hilton Head and all that was available were 2 bedroom units. We will feel a little silly having all that space for just the two of us but hey that's the way it goes sometimes! Anyway, in my humble opinion, the studios are nice and perfect for short stays or vacations where you know you'll spend a lot of time in the parks or just fine for a cozy getaway for 2. Enjoy!!!!

I'm afraid DD would really get used to that Tub in a One Bedroom!;)

I'm for longer vacations and more of them!

wdwstar - Thanks, good advice!

Next question, does the fridge have a small freezer? Forgot to look during the tour!

Thanks again,

2 bedroom last year. It was awesome!!!!!!
Studio this year. I saving points for a Grand Villa next year (my first time).

I love the extra space, but being at Disney is the most important thing.

the studios have an under the counter refrigerator (like alot of offices) -so they have a very tiny freezer - enough for the ice trays - and maybe a pint size of ice cream -but not a lot more.

the 1-bedroom and up have a full kitchen with a regular refrigerator.

I like both the studios and the 1-bedroom - when I go with friends either go for a 2-bedroom or 2 studios - depending upon what I can get and how many points I have.

when I go alone - studio - they are pretty nice. Mother and I will fight after a while in a studio - we generally don't in a 1-bedroom - more room to spread out.

We're using points for our whole vacation this winter...studio @BCV for 4 nights, OKW for the wknd, then into a 1bdr @BCV, and then back to OKW...total 15nights...254 or 256 points...I forget...anyway, we were going to do all 1bdr, and stay on cash for the wknds, but with prorated dues, and more dues in Jan:D , our priority is most amount of time, with least amount of money, and the most amount of luxury! Yep, we want it all....and guess what - we're getting it!

Love my DVC!!!

15 days!

I have to go back to calculating!

I should have done this sooner!DUH!

Thanks guys! As long as DD can get her water bottles frozen, she will be a happy DVC'er!LOL
