Help needed please 503 Service Unavailable, Updated info post 8. Still having trouble

Hi All,

For the last week (or maybe more) I get the following when I click on some (not all threads) when trying read them.

"503 Service Unavailable
The server is temporarily busy, try again later!
Powered By LiteSpeed Web Server

LiteSpeed Technologies is not responsible for administration and contents of this web site!"

It is making viewing DIS VERY difficult as I cannot view several posts at all and sometimes cannot view posts I could previously view.

Is anyone else getting this?
Anyone know why I'm getting this?
Anyone know how to "fix" it?

I was getting the same thing a couple of weeks ago....I have no idea why or what fixed it, but has been working fine since. Sorry I am no help!

I don't know, but I googled it and came up with the info that it isn't your computer but a server problem (usually overload). Here is some info: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/503error.htm

I hope things get better! I haven't had this problem so maybe it has to do with the browser as well?

Yes, that's a server issue that you can do nothing about on your end.

I am occassionally getting this message as well. I didn't see it coming up more often lately, but then again I am on at relatively odd times due to time difference.

Several months ago I was having trouble with getting on the disboards. I can't remember exactly what the problem was but it was acting very buggy with links not working and sometimes random audio would start up. Turned out it was a virus. I didn't seem to have problems with other sites, just the disboards. Hopefully that's not the reason for the problems you're having but thought i would mention it just in case.

I was having the same problem yesterday and had no idea why. Today it hasn't been happening so I guess I should be happy.

I STILL am getting the error message. It is only on the DISBoards, no other sites. I can't view 90% of the posts. I CAN view the main page with all the thread links. Today, I decided to go to the dark side and tried Internet Explorer. Voila! I can view everythihng. So.... it's something to do with Firefox??

Mods, is there an official DISBoards Tech person I could send a note to in an attempt to find out what might be happening? Thanks!

There is a thread there about the 503 errors...if you can read that. Hope that helps. You can also PM Mary Jo to see if she has any suggestions. She's one of the tech support moderators.

You can decide if it's good news or bad (be nice ), but problem solved and I'm back!

I discovered I could view DIS from my iphone with no troubles (so it wasn't my account). I could view it from my DH's computer using IE (so it wasn't our home network). So I tried my computer using IE (the devil, imo) and had success. Then, in a discussion regarding a different topic, DH asked me if I had the latest version of Firefox installed. I mentioned that I needed to install the most recent version that came out a few weeks ago. He then said, "Wait, when did you start having trouble with viewing the DISBoards?" I just updated Firefox and - voila - no more 503 Service Error messages and I can view everything.

So, if anyone else has any troubles (and can read this from an alternate computer)... update Firefox.
