Help Needed!! Kindle,Nook,Sony e reader?

I love my kindle, had it almost 2 years.

you can have up to 6 kindles on one account, we have 5 on one account. Which means we share everything! (except magazine, blog, and newspaper subscribtions).

I don't want a touch screen, I coudl just imagine how many times I would accidently turn the pages while reading by brushing against something.

This summer we were gone for 8 weeks, and never had a problem with getting the wireless to work to download books.

I like being able to check out a few chapters before buying the book.

The little I know about the nook, is while they are claiming this shareing thing is amazing, from my understanding you can only share ONE thing at a time, and only share that thing ONCE, and only for 2 weeks, and while it is being shared you can't access that book.

And for everyone who says you can only get books through amazon, clearly does not have a kindle, I have TONS of things not bought on amazon. Amazon is easiest when traveling, since their store is loaded onto the kindle, and I can upload a book in seconds.

Personally, I am a huge reader, and I LOVE my kindle, it is my favorite toy.

I know! I wish I could hold the three together! I am torn between: Nook and Kindle I think. I like the wireless on those and the nook is touch screen.

The entire nook is not touch screen. Only the bottom portion is a touch screen, that goes black when you are reading. I believe it can be swiped to turn pages, though I hear it is not as easy as you would think. I imagine that pushing the buttons would make more sense since they are right where your fingers would be while holding the device.

I also will be interested to hear what people think. I read that Nook is the only model with an easily replaceable battery and it also has a backlit screen.

Nook does not have a backlit screen. None of the e-ink displays have a backlit screen.

Can you use a Kindle to check out books from the Library? From what I have been reading, only the Sony e reader will:confused3 I am probably just missing something....

I believe nook will be able to borrow books from the library also.

My opinion is not to go with sony... I have done a lot of research and their books are far more expensive than those at amazon and b&n. B&N has recently lowered their book prices to try and match the prices of amazon. I have been having the kindle vs nook debate for a while also. The other day I went into b&n while shopping and tested the nook. I loved it. I can't say I wouldn't love the kindle, but I will never know since I don't know anyone with one that I can test. There was a big update to the firmware for the nook that went out today. It has solved a lot of the problems/lag that people were complaining about in the reviews. If you want honest reviews of both devices.. and not those of people that have only used the device a time or two to do a review go to each of the discussion boards... kindleboards.com and nookboards.com

Get the opinions of people that have used them for more than a week.

See that is what I struggled with was the ability to try the nook and not the Kindle. Well, I bought the Kindle! I will be sure to update! I am looking at some pretty skins for my new toy now! I am impressed that I just bit the bullet and made a choice, we will see if it was a smart choice or not! lol :)

I have had my Kindle 2 for 3 months now and it is, by far, the best gift I have ever received! My husband bought it for me for any early birthday gift.

Can't say enough about it! Easy to use, easy to read, books in a few seconds, I could go on an on.

Enjoy yours!:)

had the same debate between the 3. Between my DISboard buddies and my own research I too have decided on the kindle! I dont have it yet so I dont have an opinion as a user yet. The two feature that pushed me toward the kindle was the wi-fi and the text to talk. I hope you enjoy your kindle!:goodvibes

I was going thru this same debate in Oct and chose the Kindle 2 and I absolutely love it :lovestruc

Though with the Whispernet my credit card doesn't love it so much ;):rotfl:

The main reason I chose the K2 over the others was access to Amazon's books... The price of almost every book I've purchased has been lower on Amazon's website compared to any of the others... Yes, I'm the finance person that has a running spreadsheet :upsidedow

Check out kindleboards.com for great info :thumbsup2
