help needed from ticket experts...

I already know you all will think I am crazy but this is what I am in need of knowing... Last November I purchased three 10 day park-hopping -non-expiring passess from SOG. We only used 3 days - hence I have 7 days left for our trip in April which is April 7-14 that part is easy...

I have checked our school calendar for April 2007 - (yes I am secretly trying to plan another trip for next April - but we won't let the DH know yet )
The break next year is April 6 - April 15.

Can I on the last day of our tickets (April 14) upgrade our tickets to a Annual pass - and if so how do they determine the cost.....

if I can do this then that will give us tickets for next April, a possible trip in November and maybe a weekend trip to visit my dad another time....

My understanding is that when you upgrade to an annual pass, it is good for one year from when the original tickets were first used. In your case, the AP would expire November 2006 - if an upgrade could be done at all.

You can only upgrade a MYW ticket within the first 14 days or prior to initial use. Having the no expiration option on it has no effect.

You could apply the dollar value of the unused day on your last day but since MYW tickets are front loaded in value, you would only get the price of adding the base value of the 10th day, about $47 at military prices.

Optimistically the trade up value of a ten day hopping non-expiring pass used more than 14 days ago and with one day remaining (traded towards an AP) is about eighteen dollars, three dollars for the tenth day over a nine day pass, four dollars for the pro-rated share of the hopping, and eleven dollars for a pro-rated share of the non-expiration (2005 prices when you bought the ten day). You might get less credit, for example zero dollars for non-expiration because that part costs no more for a ten day contrasted with a nine day.

Not absolutely sure.

Better to save the remains of the ten day for a future weekend jaunt to be used as-is.

Also, the OP purchased her tickets in 2005, and the non-expiration option on the 10-day was $35 less than in 2006.

I checked out the military price after I read your post. The chart on allearsnet is wrong and I have made them aware of it. I used that chart too. The actual price difference between the 9 day military PH/NoExp and the 10 day military PH/NoExp is indeed $7. That would be the credit the OP would get.

Having put the no expiration on it would make no difference in figuring the credit. Once the ticket is used, there is no pro-rating of the prices of the add ons, much like they don't pro-rate when going from an AP to a PAP. The PH and WPF&M add ons are set fees, not dependent of the number of days. The NoExp option, while priced according to original ticket length, is also not pro-rateable (is that a word? ).

The upshoot of the whole change in ticketing policy over the past fifteen months is that Disney is no longer encouraging you to trade up your tickets unless you do it within the 14 day window. They want you to use up the old ones and buy new ones. That's why they stopped taking pre-MYW tickets for credit, too.
