Planning a trip for myself and my mom in August :woohoo:, I haven't been to the parks in ten years :eek: (a travesty, really) and I'm wondering what the bag regulations are like these days. In specific: Are there any rides you are not allowed to carry bags on? I'm deciding between a small across body bag with just essentials or a larger across body so that I can carry my dslr all day. But as we plan to go from sun up to sun down (we've always been crazy commandos) I'll probably end up trading off between the two. So is it necessary to rent lockers for any rides? Because we definitely plan to do all the coasters etc (except no Kali River Raids for this girl)!

I normally take a backpack to carry everything for the family. I can't think of any rides at WDW that you can't take a bag on with you. I have taken it on RnRC, TOT, TSM, Splash Mountain, BTRM, Test Track, Mission Space And EE. I have only ever used a locker in Universal, Seaworld & Busch Gardens.
I thik you should be ok. Have a great time.

Perfect! Thank you so much for your help!

Bags are allowed on every ride! :banana::banana::banana:

Man, Disney just does everything right! I see your trip begins in just one week!!! That is so exciting! Thanks for responding and I hope you have a truly special trip! :goodvibes

I like to take as little as possible - the more you carry - the harder the bag is to carry by the end of the night
what is in it that you really need?? really think about this - ticket, credit card, camera batteries - what else??
I'm add a picture of my DH & oldest son - the lanyard that DH is wearing is what both of us took - this has a zipper pocket on the back that was great for credit card & batteries - our KTTW & photo pass was behind the GAC (I usually just had to hold mine up for the CM's to see to use instead of digging it out all of the time) - this really worked for us

picture of DH
hoping this works otherwise I'm going to have to photobucket this

Right now I'm planning on carrying: iphone, wallet (very light and small), bandaids for blisters, a travel size sunscreen, chapstick, sunglasses, a few single doses of different medicines...hmm, feels like there should be more but that's all that comes to mind. I'll take pictures of my KTTW on my phone just in case. Oh, I will also have a very small notepad & pen that will have plans and information we might need (reminders of which restaurants we want to eat at and their location etc.) that way I can also take notes in it so we can remember it all! Now all of that would easily fit in my little pouch across the body bag and would be easy to carry. But I start thinking...maybe I should bring a cell phone charger too (I'm a worry-wart haha) my mom will have a point-and-shoot so it isn't dire for me to bring my dslr (definitely does get heavy to carry around) but I will probably have it a couple days just to make sure we get some great pictures. Can't decide if when I do carry it, I should use a totally separate camera bag or keep it in my larger across body purse, which makes it slightly harder to get out for those quick picture opportunities.

Wow, sorry for just dumping so much info on you! haha, just thinking out loud here, don't mind me! But thank you for your help. My mom has carried something like you described before (actually we've carried them a lot of times on cruises) and you're right it's very convenient.

My fiance and I take a backpack it holds everything ive found that with the cross body bags u get a funky tan going on a backpack is a little better to carry on....and no lockers needed u can take ur bag on every ride and alot of the rides have pouches in front of u to put ur bag

We just got back from WDW and I tried a new bag that worked with my DSLR perfectly. I had plenty of room for it plus my iPhone, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, 6 KTTW cards, lip balm, a hat and sunglasses. I've put the link on here so that you could see it. There is a zipper pocket inside, 2 more pockets inside and 2 flapped pockets on the outside of it, so no need to carry a wallet. I just put those items in the zippered pocket. Also, instead of a pen and notepad, use the "Notes" section on your iPhone to put any info on it that you need. I used mine this year to keep notes of things to remember as I plan next year's trip. I did also take a picture of our KTTW cards, but found out (because we lost our 1st card in 5 trips) that if you are staying at a WDW resort, they have all the info needed to cancel out the missing card and reissue a new one. My husband said that is was much easier than he thought it would be. Anyway, enjoy your trip!!

@Munchkin

You're right, plus the one strap digs in on whichever shoulder it's on!

Yes I have definitely thought of taking the notes on my iphone so I think I will do that. I will probably bring my charger then since I'll be on my phone a bit throughout the day with notes, checking disney apps, probably snapping a few pictures, and generally being at the parks for a very long time I don't want to risk getting separated and not being able to communicate! Hm, I wonder if there will be any outlets at all available though? I have also thought I should email myself our plans and info and then I can just read them from there. That Vera Bradley seems like it would be quite handy! Thank you for your help!

My husband carried a backpack with him & took it on all the rides. Water parks are the tough one and you'll need a locker.
