This is a game I used several times, always with great results. The kids take off one shoe and sock and have to pick wrapped candy off the floor with their toes. They think it will be harder than it is, so their faces are all wacked out at the beginning. But in reality it's not that hard but takes concentration. Also it keeps the kids in one spot and not running around. I usually have them place the candy in their shoe. Try it with your kids at home -- it's fun! I got the idea when my daughter was doing physical therapy for her ankle. You could also put $1 tree stuff like erasers, pencils, etc. on the floor. Have cute bags ($1 Tree) for them to place their stash and they have a take home item.
Activities-- you could have a building tower contest. Get a soft cheap candy (like spice drops, peeps, maybe a collection of different candies) and toothpicks. Place the kids in teams of 3 or 4 and give them 5 to 7 minutes to build the tallest tower with only candy and toothpicks.
Craft -- I would try to incorporate the cross in this one. Something with jewel tones. Fake sun catchers are fun. There are several kinds you could make.
**There is the contact paper where you cut two identical crosses, peel the paper on one and place funky cut different colors of paper on it (scrapbook stash??). Make sure they leave space between the colors (like the black lead in a stain glass window). After the base is covered they peel the paper on the other sheet and place the contact paper on top. The paper should not go to the edge of the contact paper, because you want a solid seal. Then trim the two layers to equal.
** You could also do crosses with shaved crayons, wax paper and irons. (google how to do) But you would need several ironing moms for that. But if the craft was done early the moms could iron while the kids did games.
Not a suncatcher -- but I also have done precut wood and let the kids decorate. I am sure JoAnns, etc would have precut crosses. Then they could do a free decorate -- markers, gemstones, ribbon, glitz, etc.
Good luck! You should have a great party!
