Hi everyone,

So my family and I recently moved to the happiest place on earth. We must be back Friday in NJ for a family event and flying is not an option (way way to expensive) :) We keep checking the road reports and i95 is not an option to drive bc of major flooding in North Carolina. Does anyone have any ideas for an alternate route to avoid 95 and also route 40 (in North Carolina) to get from FL to NJ? Any ideas would be sooooo helpful. thanks so much everyone! ;)

I would need to know where the flooding was exactly to figure out the route, but I do not have to attention span to search right now.

I would probably route it on Waze and see if it gives an alternate route. If I was mainly trying to avoid certain parts of NC, I would probably do I-95 to SC and then try I-74 for and just work my way North and East as necessary.

If you can take I-95 to the I-26 interchange, then I recommend I-26 to Columbia, then I-77 through Charlotte to I-81. What you do from there depends on where exactly in Jersey you're going.

Now, I will admit to being ignorant on the exact geography of the flooding. This route may not be possible either.

I was thinking the same route also. I think all of the closed roads are north of the I-26 turnoff

Flights to NJ are currently pretty cheap for the next several months. I paid $75 each way for my late Oct trip, and $89 for my trip in late March 2017. The air is still quite low. Southwest, MCO to EWR (Newark). Some JetBlue flights also are low, matching the SW price.

Can't help on the driving.
