Help! Need to find insurance for grandparents

Well, This is my first post and I need help to find some travel insurance for my grandparents who are both over 80!!

They regularly travel to orlando about 3 times a year but unfortunately my Grandad suffered a 'mini stroke' in March and was fully recovered to visit Orlando in April and had no problems getting insurance covering this, but now insurance companies are quoting over a £1000 for one trip and are not willing to cover him for a 'stoke' even though his has had no further problems.

Has anyone encountered similar problems or know any specialist insurance companies that deal with the elderly.

My grandparents are full of energy and are wanting to go back to orlando in November which is when we are going.

We paid £185 insurance for my 80 year old Dad`s trip to Spain this year and that was for one week!
Have you tried Saga?? Or ask at your local hospital - they once offered me names of sympathetic insurance companies when I had difficulty getting cover for DH.

Saga have done my mum and dad for 179. and my dad has had heart surgery. Also you could try help the aged. ug:

This may sound strange, but a year may be cheaper than one or two weeks, ti was for my mother.

a work colleague had the same problem when his parents tried to visit his sister for a holiday in san diego this summer , they too had health problems and where in thier late seventies..

he told me that he had discovered through a friend of his that there is an account that you can open with the royal bank of scotland that if you i think keep in a set amount of cash and pay a small fee for me thinks an icreased service package that you get free worldwide travel insurance...

whatever the deal was it was worthwhile his parents to open up an account and to switch money into it ......

me thinks it was something like a royalties account gold ...or something like that by name....

There is also a company called MedJetAssist. They will insure up to 85 years of age. The selling point is that they will send a plane to pick you up anywhere in the world in a medically equipped and staffed private plane (at no charge to you...it is covered w/the policy) if you are hospitalized more than 150 miles from home. They will fly you to the hospital of your choice....even if it is a different country. The have annual plans or 7, 14, 21 day plans and cover individials and/or families.
