We have 4 days spare and want to know where we should stay? So far this is our plans
6 days Anaheim
4 days San Diego
3 days Vegas

Where else should we stay that's kid friendly and not too far to travel. It's a no to San Fran due to the extra travel time. I was thinking maybe Santa Monica.

Hi,
What age are your children? What about Universal Studios? And stay in that area for a couple of nights?

Or you could easily add another night to San Diego (so much to do - Sea World, Zoo, Beach, Wild Animal Park,USS Midway,Beach, museums, shopping etc), and if your children are under 9 then another couple of nights at Carlsbad ( Legoland)?

Or 2 nights at the Grand Canyon ( stay right in the park at the South Rim - you could drive there from Las Vegas and then stay another night at Vegas on the way back)

santa monica is great but its not the most exciting place for kids to go. The pier is the only thing but all the rest if for adults. You can walk to venice beach but again its not great for kids. Why not stay in hollywood and go visit Universal? Hollywood it self isnt that exciting and there isnt alot to do (not for kids anyway) but its worth seeing and then heading to universal for sure. Dont forget to factor a day in Anaheim to go see Knotts. That park is another whole day alone and is only down the street from Disneyland by car. You also have legoland if you want.

Did you buy the 14 day DL pass? If you did i would add on the 3 days there or do something in the area witht he option of going back to DL at the end of the day.

You could stay in Santa Monica and do your day trips to Hollywood, Universal etc. This is what we are doing when we go. We love the idea of heading down to the pier and I have heard it makes a good base to pop here and there throughout the day!

I'm with WAMUMOF4.............Stay in Anaheim the extra nights!!!!

Everything you want to do is easy from there! You could try a day trip on a bus into LA to see Madame Tussauds, stars homes, Hollwood sign etc, and you get to see the area and don't have to drive!
Knotts berry farm is also a short bus trip away. You might also want to try Medieval times or Pirates Adventures dinner and show which are both close too!
You can then have the ability to pop into DL or DCA, the kids will love it:)
Having stayed in Santa Monica, I would not do it again. Not kid friendly and the pier, although nice to say you have been, is not a whole day thing.
There are aslo plenty of shopping to be done close by if that is your thing!
We stayed 21 nights last trip and will be staying 16 nights next month and we never run out of things to do!!!

I am sure you will get lots of suggestions!!! Whatever you do, you are bound to have a great trip!:thumbsup2

Well I hope we have done the right thing staying in Santa Monica then. Sounds like all suggestions point elsewhere.

We just did 3 nights at universal city and found it an excellent spot for universal studios & Hollywood .
