so last night finally went for a first fitting....first some truth from me:

1. not my first time down the aisle. just celebrated that birthday after 49 :lmao:
2. was NOT, I repeat NOT ever ever getting married again! yup, that lasted a long time! :lmao:
3. didn't want to do the white gown thing - after all, I'm not that starry eyed bride like many of you (oops, wrong again!) bought a beautiful sage green gown for the reception
4. admitted eBay surfer - big time! found a beautiful wedding gown and bought it - hey, only $100 and I thought it would be cool to surprise everyone!

so this you know, I'm not young, it's not my first time and oh yes, I'm not as "fit" as I was 23 years ago! oh well, happens to the best of us!!

I went for the fitting last night - could use smaller arms , smaller butt and oh yes, no stomach would be lovely! :lmao: so not happening!!! is it just me or has anyone else gone for their fitting and said, oh my! that's me???!! actually wasn't that bad, she has to take a lot of the gown in. we've gone from a black sash to a powder blue as a remembrance of my recently deceased stepson... actually the blue is stunning and I will wear it with pride in his memory...

so what's the problem, you ask? I'm not sure. I read many of your posts here, all the gowns are so beautiful ( and new, is that my dilemma?) as are you.. in my heart I know it will look lovely and I'm wearing it for a whole 3-5 hours....so what is my problem???? I guess I want to look as lovely and young and innocent as a bride is supposed to - do you know what I mean?

I need to buy the right bra , I want to wear comfortable shoes ( read: not dressy) and most of all I want to FEEL bridal!!! no, I don't know what that means. I don't think buying another dress is the answer - I am who I am... I've attached a photo below - let me know what you think.....I know some of you have worn flip-flops or tennies - that's what I really want!

ok, I'm going to go calm down now.......thanks for listening to me rant ....you guys here are really the best! :grouphug:

Oh Michelle! I can't wait to see your dress.
popcorn::

Michelle, I don't think there is anything wrong with wearing tennis shoes. I think you are just having the case of the second guessing's (can I call it that :confused3 :lmao: ) Everybody has that. Anyways, the bridal feeling is more about how your feel as opposed to how you look. Sure there is the traditional bridal attire, but as we see nowadays that has pretty much not standard. You are marrying the man that you will spend your life with, that is what makes you a bride, not a dress. As for the not looking perfectly fit, who does? Even the fittest person on this board has some imperfection they despise. Finally, isn't it funny how the things we say we'll NEVER do we end up doing?!?!?

you are so cute...you have wedding jitters...completely normal...we all have had that "moment" where we think everything is "wrong" & we want to rethink & change it all!

Ok heres what you want to do.............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................breathe......................................................................................................................................................................................................relax..........................................................................................................................................................................................................enjoy.................................................................................................

everything will be fine, you will look beautiful and you will have a wonderful, memorable day

The important key to a successful fun wedding is to enjoy it no mater what...have a great time, go with the flow & laugh & smile til your face hurts;)

you could be the most decked out put together bride, but if you dont look like your having a good time....that will ruin the whole look.....i think the best wedding pictures/video ive ever seen were the couples that were relaxed & going with it...........you can do it!!!!!!!!!

cant wait to see the pics

oh & sorry to hear about your stepson....i think you are a wonderful person to incorporate his memory in your wedding/on your dress

gl:hug:

Don't worry!!! I'm sure you'll be beautiful!!! Can't wait to see some pics!
And think of it this way: you've already got something "old" (since your dress isn't new) and something "blue!"

aaawwww, thanks guys, you've put a smile on my face!!!

to myprincessgirlisa - I will practice that relaxing part!! easier said than done sometimes... :goodvibes and many thanks for your thoughts.....very touching

it simply amazes me that I feel more comfortable talking to you guys about my wedding stresses than my friends here! thanks to you all for being so wonderful!! it's very much needed!

and yes, the dress photos are posted now. the sash will tie in the front more to one side and I want it to drap almost to the floor. still think there will be too much "me " in the back but oh well!! :rotfl:

any suggestions on where to buy the best undergarments? there is no David's near here and I'm not totally comfortable with going to a bridal shop...is Macy's good?

Michelle :cloud9:

Your dress is very pretty. The blue sash is a great touch. I got my undergarmets at Dillards, they were very helpful. I'm sure you will be a beautiful bride.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: love it!!!!!!

Finally, isn't it funny how the things we say we'll NEVER do we end up doing?!?!?

isn't that the truth???!!! i just called my other half and said " why couldn't I be a bride who wants simple but cheesy instead of simple yet elegant??!!! :rotfl: he said that would SO not be me!!!!

I am leaning towards spanx myself !

I absolutely LOVE your dress ! That is more what I was looking for and couldn't find. But, alas, my DF was the one wanting to go more formal. I figured if he wanted to wear a tux in Florida in August, I could wear a more formal gown.

I am closely pushing the big 4-0 myself. So I can relate to not being as fit as the first time around. Ironically, I stopped at the bridal store in my college town while driving through one day and found my dress. Now for a little history...that store had opened only shortly before my first marriage and I knew the owner pretty well (long story). Anyway, I walked in and Shawn was surprised to see me there and I told her I was looking for a dress, only this time I was twice as old and twice as fat (well, not quite twice on either, but close !). She just laughed and hooked me up with my gown. Our DF's love us as we are and they will think we are beautiful even with our "flaws."

Don't sweat it, be happy and enjoy ! I think it is beautiful ! :grouphug:

Michelle, no lie, that is one of the prettiest dresses I've seen so far! If I didn't have HUGE knockers I would totally wear something like this! :rotfl:

Glorydaz, congratulations! Your gown is beautiful.

I had a FTW vow renewal over two years ago for my 20th wedding anniversary. I bought my dress off the rack and didn't have to have it altered (I was fortunate they had something in my size on the day that I shopped -- which was about two months prior to my ceremony -- talk about last-minute shopping).

When it came time to head to Orlando for my vow renewal, I decided that I wanted to wear a bodysuit beneath my gown – that way I wouldn't have to worry about a bra & underpants. I ordered the following item from QVC: click here. It arrived; it fit; I threw it in the suitcase and headed to Orlando.

For shoes, since I was still recovering from a leg injury & surgery, I wore a pair of flats that I had picked up at Nordstrom’s. You can almost make them out in the following photos: click here and click here.

For my vow renewal, comfort was the name of the game. For everyone: click here and click here.

I wish you much happiness. Again, congratulations.

BWAAAhahahahah! :lmao:

Speaking of huge knockers, you could check Victoria's Secret for longline bras. They have a large inventory of bridal/special occasion bras on their website. Frederick's of Hollywood has similar styles that cost a little less cuz they're lower quality...you just have to get past the idea of actually going in/logging on to Frederick's of Hollywood! :rotfl:

just wanted to add - you and your hubby looked simply glowing at your vow renewal!

I just have to say that your gown is BEAUTIFUL!

Everyone has their off days of not feeling beautiful. I think the most important thing is for you be comfortable. As long as you are comfortable, the confidence and radiance will follow.

I dont think it matters if this is your first time or tenth time, you are the starry eyed bride if you want to be. Get rid of all those cares and just be yourself. Do what you feel in your heart. I am sure that you look beautiful in that dress. :)
