HELP - Need Recommendations when booking a room at POR

Hi all ~

I really need help when booking a room at POR. I saw pictures of a room that had a quilt on the bed and the bed made of tree branches, is that in the AB section??? Those are the rooms I definetly DO NOT want. I'm assuming I want something in the Manor section....but which building....and what would be considered a standard view?

Any suggestions when request a room or section would be greatly appreciated! Since this was a spur of the moment trip, we can't pay the Deluxe hotel rates this time around. So any and all help would be greatly appreciated. We are celebrating our 4 year anniversary and it's a surprise trip! DH thinks he's going to Disneyland! ;-) I just don't want us to be disappointed by the room when we get there.

You are right, the rustic looking beds are located in the AB section. When we were at POR we stayed in the Magnolia Terrace Mansion. I would say the furniture is French Provincial. At the time MT was a non-smoking building, (probably still is). There was a bus stop right behind this mansion and a quiet pool next to it. This mansion is also located across the wooden bridge that leads to the theme pool and food court (main building).

We had a standard view and we were placed on the third floor and we actually overlooked a courtyard. Very pretty view, yet if we turned our head we could see the parking lot - and our car - and the bus stop, very convenient for us.

I'm sure the other mansions are good too - I can only speak for the one we stayed at. We were happy with location of the Magnolia Terrace Mansion.

That's one of the problems at Riverside (dixie landing) your room request can't be guaranteed (unless you're a party of 5). We always request Mansions, but have only gotten our request 50% of the time. Not a big fan of AB. Once I had a king bed reserved and requested the Mansions and was put in AB. After telling them I would take 2 full beds, they still won't accommodate me and in AB I was place. Mind you a nice room, corner, facing the pool, near the food court. But I like the Mansions better. Dixie is my favorite moderate and this is the one negative (of two) that I have. (The other is the air conditioning system--it's the old bulky system and often mold and dust accumulate in the systme causing havoc on my allergies--keep hoping they update it soon.)
