Help! Need recipe for a polish dish!

Simply bring a bottle of Jezynowka (Polish Blackberry Brandy).

:thumbsup2 Oh yeah I forgot about that stuff! I have to buy some! My dzadju(I know that's not the way it is supposed to be spelled but that's the way he always spelled it in my cards) used to drink this as a treat at Christmas! I am tearing up now. We are going to have a toast to Dzadju this Christmas with his Jezynowka! I had forgotten all about that until you posted. Thank you!

Its hard to pick it all sounds so good! How about giving me the recipes for a couple of the easy ones. Thanks!!

Because I am not going to get home until pretty late tonight, I Googled recipes for a couple of the easier side dishes/apps, since it sounds like the main dishes are pretty well taken care of.

These are pretty similar to what my grandma does (with notes under if she does something different)

Pickle soup:
http://www.recipezaar.com/Polish-Dill-Pickle-Soup-138138
(Except we also add hard boil eggs and chop them up and add them to the soup bowl before we add the soup on top. Very good and Very different. A big hit for most Americans (unless they hate pickles!))

Cucumber Salad:
http://easteuropeanfood.about.com/od/vegetables/r/cukessourcream.htm
(Very easy and goes very well with keilbasa and Pirogi.)
(This recipe says white vinegar is optional. IMO vinegar is a main component and not optional in this recipe.)

Potato Pancakes:
http://www.cooks.com/rec/doc/0,1838,157165-249202,00.html
(We always use regular onion, and fry them very thin. Serve with Apple Sauce and Sour Cream on the side)

Potato Salad:
http://culture.polishsite.us/articles/art341fr.htm
(This is exactly as we do it. Just make sure that the potatoes are just cooked (or you end up with mashed potato salad. I speak from experience) and cut all the veggies to a uniform size of about the same as the peas/corn. Kinda a pain, but oh so tasty)

Have you figured out yet that there is a lot of Potato and Sour Cream used in this country ;)

Now see we just had cucumbers and sour cream growing up, no vinegar, blah. We still eat that. My grandma always had cucumbers and sour cream at every dinner.

If you do bring cucumbers and sour cream, you have to mix it right before serving otherwise it gets too watery.

Nothing like watching the great aunts put together onions, cucumbers, and vinegar. Now that I would not eat.
