I need to know -- from those of you that have larger families -- or with friends with larger families -- where do you recommend staying! Our friends are taking their little ones on their first trip... ages 13 to 15 months... They are just passing through and will only stay one night. They want to play in the pool, go to bed and hit the park first thing in the morning.

I thought of a few hotels & suites but they won't take more than 6!!! And the condo & homes want a 4 day minimum.

Advice please!!! :flower3:

Since one is under 2 I think Ft. Wilderness cabins would work. It might be cramped but we're only talking one night. A cheaper option would be two rooms at one of the value resorts. An even cheaper option would be two rooms at an off-site resort. I checked the hotel discounts on the DIS home page and they have a special at a hotel with a 2 br suite which sleeps 8 for $99.

Yes in DIsney anyone under 2 is not an "official" person in a room(strange since at 9 they are adults?) So techincally they are a family of 6 as far as Disney goes. So they will be able to stay in a suite that accomodates 6 onsite
Offsite right outside the gates is The nick hotel but I am not sure how many they allow in a room- although I know they have 3 bedroom suites(but there is a king be in 2 of them and bunk beds in another)
Those are the only things I can think of. The cheapest way to go is going to be 2 rooms at a budget- like Pop or Allstars.

How about the Nick Hotel? It isn't Disney but since they plan on using one day for pools you can't go wrong there. It sleeps six and has bus service to Disney. My kids loved it there. They also do Nick night time entertainment and play Nick games at the pool.

We are a family of 6 and we love it there. With small children, they will guarantee adjoining rooms. It is very family-friendly and the theming is great for kids of all ages.

I also think 2 rooms at Pop would work great -- 4 beds, 2 bathrooms, pack&play (if requested), great pools, playground, food court, and fun theme for the kids. :)

Alligator Bayou at Port Orleans Riverside has a trundle bed in addition to the two double beds. With connecting rooms there is sleeping space for 10 -- although 2 need to be small , trundle is small. Plus you'll have 4 sinks and 2 bathrooms!

ALSO

Ft. wilderness:

2 sleep in bunks
2 in the double
2 in the murphy bed
1 in a crib!

only 1 bathroom, but also a kitchen -- handy for a family that size!

hope they enjoy their trip.

Don't forget to see if they have AAA -- almost always a discount available for the room with AAA.

It wouldn't be cost effective on a Fri/sat. nite but they could rent points from a DVC member and get a 2 bedroom which sleeps 8 and they would be onsite so they could get started early.

For an offsite option they can check out Country Inn & Suites. I know some of them have 2 BR suites, but I'm not sure whether or not the ones in Orlando do. The website is www.countryinns.com. HTH! :sunny:

We have 5 children and just stayed in the FW cabins over Christmas and LOVED them. We were not crowded at all and loved the privacy.

Thank you so much everyone!! I knew I could get great info from Dis-ers!!
You're the best! :cheer2:

You should consider going to the DVC rent/trade boards. You can get a 2 bedroom deluxe on property vacation home by renting from a DVC member. You can save 20% - 60% off the rack rate. If you go to the Disney online reservation system you will see vaction homes. You can take a virtual tour of the resorts and rooms. If you feel comfortable renting from someone you can get a great deal.
