I am in the middle of a huge dilemma about our upcoming visit to BBB at WDW. My oldest DD is 10 and doesn't wear dresses. BUT she is also at that hugely moody stage where it seems to be all my fault that we can't come up with something she can/will wear for the day and still be a princess. We had ordered the 'tween' tinkerbell costume but let's just say that's not going to work out! :headache:

She won't wear a princess dress for the whole day and I'm not spending $60 on an adult dress just for her to hate it and refuse to wear it.

So I'm really lost on what to do. Does anyone have any ideas for an outfit where DD can be a princess w/o the dress??

Pretty please!?!?! :scared:

What about a pirate princess?

Here is my little pirate princess, she won't wear dresses either.

For CRT,my 12 year old neice just wore a princess shirt (I forget what, it was teen appropriate, not cinderella in her ball gown or something :) with her hair all up/fancy with glitter, etc. (A la BBB, but my sis in law just did it herself.)

will she do Jasmine? Since Jasmine wears pants. I have the opposite problem My 4 year old(well 4 next week) won't wear a pair of pants for anything. She will only wear dresses, skirts aren't even good enough.

I've been googling belly dancer outfits all afternoon. I found a place that will customize to size the harem pants (that's what Jasmine wears) and the tops. DD seems receptive to it and I'm already looking for some sort of cami top or similar to cover her stomach and back. That way she'd be wearing pants and 2 layers of top.

Someone remind me to *thank* my MIL for such a FABULOUS idea for the girls. :rolleyes1

I'm sure the second I click order, DD will change her mind and refuse to wear it.

Check out some of the outfits on the disboutique thread. Some of the posters have tween age daughters and they have made some cute things. I remember one mother who had a light blue t-shirt and using crystals made the outline of Cinderella's carriage. It was very cute, princessy but not babyish in the least bit! Some of the people on that thread sell their items so look for people who list their ebay id and see if they have anything you might be interested in.

For my daughter's b-day this year she wore a white t-shirt that I used an iron-on for that said Princess in rhinestones. I bought it at Jo-Ann's and she wore her princess petti-skirt from the Disney Store. It was cute and I don't think too baby-ish. Good luck!

I bought my DD the Elizabeth dress from Pirates of the Carribean 2. She is really excited to wear this to BBB, and hopefully a Pirate/Princess Party.

We looked at a bunch of Disney Princess dresses, but she thought they were all too young for her.

I was happy when we found this dress that is geared a little older, but still fits with the day.

I don't think I've ever seen anything like that, sounds neat!

What about the giselle curtian dress? Some disboutiquers have made some really pretty ones.

Disneyshopping.com has some cute princess shirts. They have a couple of peasant shirts with princesses on them and t-shirts with ruffle and bubble sleeves. Maybe you and your daughter can look at disneyshopping or at a local store/mall together and figure out a solution where she can feel like a princess without compromising her own personal style and comfort.

Does she want to be a princess? I bought my honorary disney niece a HSM cheer outfit online and according the the description the skirt is actually a skort. I haven't received it yet but I told her about it and she was very excited.

Good luck delmar411. I am sending you some pixie dust :wizard: .

Bellydancer here. If you're OK with a flesh-colored stomach, there are places that sell mesh body suits that are flesh tone. I wear one when I dance.

The Disneystore sold an Elizabeth Swan outfit last year that had pants and a long top, that was ment to be a jacket looking thing. There are a bunch up on ebay right now.

Would she wear one of the "pre princess" outfits like Briar Rose, Cinderella in rags, provencial Belle, or Ariel on land?
Either of those could be made as two pieces - with wide leg pants (we used to call them gauchos - are they still called that?):confused3
That way it would still look exactly like the princess, but she won't technically be in a dress. And you don't see those outfits as frequently as the "real" princesses, so it would be quite unique!

* try New Look 6626 for the pants

thanks everyone! Lots of excellent ideas to run past DD. And yeah unfortunately she does want to be a 'princess'. Sibling rivalry is running high here between my girls so since her sister will be a princess (actually she's going to be giselle w/ the curtain dress), then DD *must* be a princess(princess = anything pretty/fancy) too. My younger DD is very much a girlie girl and older DD is most definitely not. It's not good for her to compare herself against her younger sister so I want to make the effort and have DD feeling good about herself and what she is wearing, yk?

Leave it to another Disboutiquer to steal my idea...:rotfl:
