I know with the intimate weddings you get 12 photo (which you don't get to choose which ones) but I was wondering anyone who has had an intimate wedding have they ever purchased the proofs and about how many photos do you actually recieve and cost??
Also are your guests allowed to take their own photos?

I don't have any answers but I have an additional question. We are having a wedding with the 2 of us...nobody to take pics with our camera. Can we ask a CM or somebody to take 1 or 2 just so we don't go home empty handed???

If you plan on purchasing your proofs, you must let your wedding planner know ahead of time. Once the wedding has happened, they will charge you per picture. I can't remember off-hand how much it costs to purchase your proofs ($250 is sticking in my head for some reason), but it's much cheaper to do it this way than per picture. You are also able to buy a disc with the photographs ($1000 for high-res, $275ish for low-res, someone else might have more accurate prices).

The amount of pics taken depends on the photographer, but seems to range from 60-120 for intimates.

Of course, your guests may take pics of whatever they like! :)

Dereka gave you some great info! The low-res CD is VERY low res, you can't really print anything much bigger then a 3x5 without serious distortion. Also, 3 years after your wedding, you should be able to purchase the high-res CD for $99.

If you decide to purchase the proofs for the $225 (or so, prices change), they are basically 4x6 prints of every photo you have taken. They DO NOT say Proof and they are pretty well color balanced and such, just no retouching or cropping.

I bought my proofs ahead of time for $225 and it was the best thing I did for the wedding. We had 115 pictures taken total, but a lot of them were requests from us for certain poses, in addition to what the photographer advised on.
And yes, guests can bring cameras. I did not allow cameras at my intimate, however since we had a photographer and videographer and I trusted them to capture the moment. I figured if even two of our eight guests were snapping pics, it would be a distraction (standing up, moving around, leaning in front of others) and some would be more concerned with their cameras than enjoying the ceremony. I had the rule of "if you wouldn't do it in a church, don't do it at my ceremony," and I know neither families pop out cameras for a church ceremony. It worked out very well.
