Yeah, a lot of people do not adapt. I'd say its closer to 50/50 but it's worth a shot.
One thing you could also do is ask for Rx's for both distance AND mono. When you wear distance, you can wear reading glasses over the top when needed. Or you can go mono for the day. That way you have more flexability.
Depth perception will definately be off, no questions. But you can adapt to that, just like people who are blind in one eye will adapt. Just don't try to watch a 3D movie with monovision CLs in.
