Hi everyone -

We are going to WDW in Nov., but My DH's birthday :bday: is coming soon and I want to get him something for our upcoming trip. Has anyone been on any of the tours? He has already said he doesn't think he wants to do the Segway tour though because we can ride them at Disneyland in Innoventions for free. I think I want to get him tickets for a tour maybe. Does anybody have any ideas? He loves all sports, everything Disney and Movies. We did the Keys to the Kingdom Tour on our Honeymoon. He keeps talking about a tour in the Land at EPCOT that is cheap and you get to walk behind the scenes where they grow everything. He also mentioned an ice cream social or a character meal. Please give me some creative ideas. His birthday is next week so I would buy tickets and then give them to him or something. What are some things you have done or heard? We are in our twenties and love Disney!!!!! Please help me!!!

Jenny

You could try a Wishes or Illuminations cruise. also (and much cheaper) You could get the IceCream social at The Land. If you're so inclined, you could also arrange a "suprise" rehitching ceremony (done as part of the social).

There is also parasailing and jetski's to you arrange to rent - just for something different and fun.

I got my DH the rookie experience @ the Richard Petty raceway. He will be driving on the 29th! He is so excited!

They have a ride along experience for about $108.00.

The other thing I would consider is Cirque du Soleil. Absolutely fabulous!

If he likes to fish you could set him up for fishing.

Too many ideas! Not enough $$$$!

Jenny: FYI -- the Behind The Seeds tour has been temporarily stopped so it is probably not an option for you. You might want to call and see if it's resuming anytime soon. Good luck!

I agree with rsschneck (hope I spelled that right!)
I got my DH & my DSS the Richard Petty 8 Lap Experience for their birthdays in '98 - They still talk about it being the best present they ever got. It killed every other present since then, nothing can live up to that! lol

In fact, DH decided to come with us next year (he hasn't come with us since 2001) Maybe I'll send him off to Richard Petty again for an early b-day present....... That's sure to help him feel the Magic!

I have to say that the Segway tour has been my husband's favorite thing so far at WDW. I don't know how long you get to ride them at Innoventions, but the Segway tour is tour hours long and riding through World Showcase before it's open to the public is a blast. If he likes the Segways at all, you might want to rethink this tour.

Another vote for the Segway tour, we had so much fun.

Also- My husband loved the Behind the Scenes Steam Train Tour. It was his Father's Day present. We learned some history about the WDW trains and Walt's backyard set-up, then went to the roundhouse. He has loved trains since he was a little boy.

DH loved the Richard Petty Rookie Experience!! 2 yrs later, he still talks about it.

This year we're doing the segway tour on his b-day - he's very excited about that also.

These ideas all sound great. Can anyone tell me more about the Richard Petty race. Thats sounds like it might be really fun. Also tell me more about the segway tour. Do the segways get easier to ride fast? I kept feeling like I was going to fall off. I think my DH felt that way too, thats why he maybe said that we did not need to take that tour.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I give him his Birthday gift? Something different. Not just a present.

Thank you everyone,
Jenny:earsgirl:

gift? How about wrapping a set of car keys in a small box with a note that says "look in the driveway". In the driveway you can put a small toy Tom Petty car with a card explaining the deal.

Of course, he better have a sense of humor.

We celebrated my DH's birthday at WDW this past February. I "gave" him a massage at AKL (not me, personally, but you know what I mean), and a birthday dinner at the Garden Grill, where Mickey delivered his cake in person and "smooshed" frosting on his nose! That part was a big hit with the kids, lol. :teeth:

I also gave my husband the Richard Petty Rookie experience on our last trip as a birthday present. His birthday was 2/23 and we were leaving for WDW on 3/1 so on his birthday I gave him an envelope that contained the confirmation for the Rookie experience and all the paperwork he needed to fill out and bring with him that day which included a medical form to verify that you are in good health. The funny thing was, when he opened it the first thing he saw was the sheet that said "Medical Form" and he later told me he thought I was sending him for some kind of medical procedure.

The Rookie experience began at about 1 P.M. We drove over to the track and there were about 20 other people in the group all waiting inside and while you wait they show films of race cars crashing! For a minute I wondered if this was such a great idea. Then they talked with everyone for a few minutes about what they would be doing. Then they piled everyone into vans and drove them around the track instructing them on what to do. Then everyone in the group came back, put on special suits and helmets and waited for their 8 lap turn. My husband turned out to be the last one to go but he wound up having the fastest time in the group which also made it very special for him. They also took each driver's picture standing by one of the cars and you could buy that and we did. It was a nice souvenir of the experience. My husband had a great time and said he enjoyed it even more than he thought he would. The whole thing cost about $375 although we got a 10% discount for being DVC members. I think it's a great gift idea and your husband would be surprised. Let me know if I can give you any other info on it.
