I want to get my DH some good sandle type shoes for our upcoming trip. He usually wears tennis shoes @ WDW. I've tried to get him to try Crocs but he refuses :confused3 So what is a good alternative. He wears sandles, but he doesn't have a really good pair for walking. Suggestions please :)

My husband is the same way. Last year he wore soaking sneakers during the rain storms. He refuses to wear crocs and he doesn't like his "toes to show". I found him a solution though...Keens!! They are a sneaker/sandal. They are very rugged, durable shoes that can get wet and dry in a flash. They can be pretty pricey, but if you look online right now you may find some deals. Just go to google, type in Keens and away you go!!! They are great quality. I got Keens for my five year old step son as well. He's too prone to tripping to wear crocs and keens let him run around like a crazy child but keep his feet protected!!

Also, Tevas are great athletic sandals...great for walking. Chaco is another good brand for athletic sandals. Go to zappos.com or onlineshoes.com...you can find a lot options and free shipping!!! :)

(they also have "keen" type shoes at Payless shoe source...though they are exceedingly heavy! But it's worth a look!)

my DH is SO picky about his shoes!! I don't dare buy him anything, cause I know that he would complain about them and return them. He wears tennis shoes most of the time, but he did find some Columbia sandals that he likes.

Whatever you do don't get Crocs. You get blisters really easy, and with the long walks at WDW your feet will probably fall off!!!

I am a HUGE fan of zappos. You can read great reviews and shop on line. Best of all they have a great return policy (365 days to return as long as not worn). I have returned many a shoe that my boyfriend hated but couldn't be bothered to shop himself.

From a womans perspective - here is my take on sandals.

I have Chacos with the toe loop - HATE that thing, maybe I would like the one without but spent so much on them I haven't gotten around to getting another pair.

Teva - not as much sole support as the Keens. I wore Teva's for years as a professional gardener, have worn them hiking with no problems, but they aren't so great on concrete. My feet really ache after a day at Disney in Tevas.

Keens - just bought my first pair. Not sure yet. Pricey, but they offer great support, comfortable straps, and expecially the H2's should dry super fast.

Birkenstock. Ok, if he won't wear Crocs, maybe he won't wear Birks. But for support, Birks are great! They don't dry as fast as other sandals, but I've done WDW in birks and left with happy feet.

Overall, my latest strategy is to take as many pairs of shoes as possible. Switching off is the key for me. So tennis shoes are great for a non water ride day, sandals another day, etc.

Happy shoe shopping everyone!

Zappos.com is GREAT...they always upgrade their shipping to 1-2 day,and it's always free, but that is reflected in the prices. Zappos tends to have higher prices than any other shoe store online...that being said, their customer service is OUTSTANDING and they have reviews on all the shoes that are very helpful when trying to figure out what size or how comfortable the shoes are. It's a very pleasant online shopping experience!!!:cool1:

Maybe DH prefers sneakers because other kinds of shoes hurt his feet? My DH usually gets terrible pains in the arch of his feet after a few days at WDW. This year I left him alone and his PUMA Euro style sneakers didn't hurt him a bit. Whatever you choose its never a good idea to break shoes in when walking miles at WDW so if you get DH a new pair make sure he breaks them in & makes sure there are no rub spots... his tootsies will thank you for it. As a precaution I ALWAYS pack some moleskin in my day bag for the parks.

HAve fun:thumbsup2

I have both Tevas and Keens, I wore the Keens this summer for Europe trip(no Kids) for 11 days and they were great. We walked a ton, I like them better than my Tevas because they have a "toe".

Keens or Merrells, depending on whether he prefers a more open or closed design. These will run between $70-90 per pr. through most sources.

If you need to go cheaper, Land's End now has a selection of combo sport sandals, too, and they are supposed to be pretty decent. Those are about $40.

Not exactly sure what Keens are???
We all (including DH) wear llbean summer sneakers.
They can be worn with or without socks. We prefer without. We can walk through water and dryout in no time. They are completely washable. My kid's live in them at parks etc during the summer.
As always, break them in prior to the parks!
I have been outfitting DH for years. :lmao:
Good Luck and DO what's right for you.

DH has a size 13 extra extra extra wide foot and always wore sneakers (before he met me). Support is very important too because he injured his right leg in an accident and it swells and aches from time to time. For our first trip to WDW I bought him a pair of Tevas from Sierra Trading Post. He is now such a huge fan of them that he wears them 7 months out of the year, even in cold, cold New England. Another bonus is that the soles are treated with Microban and no more stinky sandals.
