We had to change our entire eating schedule for our December trip (Dec 9-11). In trying to decide what to do now, my DH has decided he wants, really badly to eat at California Grill. Well, guess what, no reservations are available! Is it likely that if I keep checking every day, something will become available? I would think it would be fruitless to go over there and try to get in as a walk-in. Anyone have any ideas?

best advice is keep checking. peoples plan change every day and there willbe cancellations, so you never know

good luck and make a plan b, where else would he like to dine? What attracted him to CG? Can you find something with a similar attraction?

Yup, just keep checking. I think the best time to check is in early AM like 5 or 6.
Hope you get it!:goodvibes

if it's just you and hubby - chances are good that they may have room at the counter overlooking the kitchen / sushi chef. We've done that in the past.

I don't want to spoil your hopes but I tried for over a month to get a ressie in March for DH and I, but couldn't get anything earlier than 9:40. Sending pixie dust your way.

If you really want badly to eat there, go up to the 2nd floor checkin desk at 5:30 when they open and ask to be admitted to the lounge. There are some tables and chairs in the lounge that are pretty easy to grab at that time, because most people there are waiting to be seated in the restaurant and will move on. You can order from the full menu in the lounge.

If what you really want is to see the fireworks from the restaurant, it's difficult to get a seat in the lounge around fireworks time. But you can stay there as long as you want since they're not turning tables in the lounge.

I'm not holding my breath - but I'm going to keep trying! My DH would be in heaven if I could snag a reservation! Myself, it would suit me to eat at Beaches & Cream, then top it off with a No Way Jose.

I'm curious about eating at the counter, though! Can you eat anything on the menu there? Or is it reserved for sushi?

keep checking. I was obsessive about getting my Chef Mickeys ressie and it paid off (except the hold music was "Yo ho ho, a pirates life for me!" and was stuck in my head for a few weeks!)

Check at different times of the day - a CM told me it takes 2 hours for cxl's to show up

CG requires a credit card guarantee with a 48 hour cancellation policy, so I would think that thinks might open up at the 3 or 4 day mark. Make sure you have a backup reservation for that night just in case nothing does open up.

You can always make a late reservation for the Wave and try a walk up at CG if nothing else works. Then if you don't get into CG you can eat at the Wave which is nice and close.

You sure can. I ordered 2 appitizers and a plate of sushi - along with a couple glasses of wine :). However you were handed a full menu. I've eaten at tables as well. I totally enjoyed eating at the counter. We didn't feel like it was so crazy all around us as we sometimes do at the tables. Oh and the sushi chef will give you a plate of different samplings. :thumbsup2
