Help!!My villa has been cancelled!

Hi, I apologise that my 1st post is a desperate cry for help!
To fill you in, I booked my holiday in May last year for Easter 2008 with Dial a Flight. Flying Virgin, Easter Sunday, staying in Emerald Island for 15 nights in a 4 bed villa. We are a party of 2 adults, 4 children and 1 infant (I know, must be mad!)..........

Or so we thought!
Dial a Flight have just been on the phone telling us that they've over booked the accomodation

They've offered us an "upgrade" to Windsor Park Villas. Now this from what I can see is not the sameas Windsor Palms/Hills which I would be happy with (I think)

Please can somebody advise me what Villa resort you think is an acceptable change? This holiday has cost us a fortune and I really don't want to, nor feel like I should compromise on our Villa.

I'm so mad as we booked last May so we wouldn't have this ridiculous last minute rush

If somebody can offer me some help I'd really really appreciate it.

What a nightmare so close.
If all else fails try Ebay, there might just be a last minute cancellation advertised on there.
Try a search on Travelsupermarket.com but they tend to be not specific locations just like "in Disney area" etc.
Only other thing is try the usual villa sites, VRBO etc and hope there is availabilty somewhere.
There is another forum site you might know where they can advertise their own villas but don't think Dis would like me saying, hopefully you know it.

You probably are not compromising on the villa, but you are on location.
I can only suggest you get back to them with a list of your preferred locations.

Don't aplogise there are lots of helpful people on this forum.
I've just looked on this map http://www.thedibb.co.uk/villa-map.php Windsor Park seems very far out.
Your original booking at Emerald Island is a great location I think you should push for one in the same area. I agree you shouldn't have to compromise it is their mistake.
Would it be possible to cancel the villa part of the holiday you have with dial a flight and book one independently?

Windsor Park is way too far out. Please don't accept this location. Ask them what other locations they can offer and post back here.

If the worst comes to the worst, you'll have to insist that you're allowed to book your own accommodation at their expense.

Another thing which occurs to me is to ask them, if they've double-booked, how they've selected who should be "bumped". I struggle to believe that many people booked before you, so if anyone is to be moved, it should be someone who booked later. Often it's a case of "he who shouts loudest".

I agree totally - there will be very few people (with the exception of us Disers!! ) who would plan and book that far in advance - you shouldn't have to change - fight I say!!!

Well only a slight update, we've told them that Windsor Park Villas is unacceptable. The reason we chose Emerald was it's location. They've now gone away again to look at it.

I'm worried now that as there is only 2 and a bit weeks today all the good resorts are going to be full? Should I just cancel? (No-I can't, my 2 year old asks me every morning if "we're going to Disney today?!!")

So Windsor Palms/Hills is there a difference? Any other recommendations that I can put on a list to give them?

Has anybody else had experience of this hapenning and what were the outcomes?

And to think, this morning I was sat with my Brit guide happily making plans.....Grrr!

Whatever happens there are definitely villas out there that will not be booked, I would personally wait and see what they come back with.

However, I also think it's a big advantage generally choosing your own villa, this way YOU get to choose where you stay.

Emerald Island is located close to the popular Formosa Gardens area, where also the likes of Windsor Palms, Rolling Hills and Indian Creek are located.

All these are nice places to stay and offer in my opinion an ideal location.

Whilst I am not necessarily saying you should cancel, I wouldn't wait more than a couple of days for them to get back and sort the problem out.

Finally I am very experienced at booking our own villas, and have many I could easily let you have the links for should you need it...I am sure we can find one for you if absolutley necessary and would be glad to help you find one if you need me to.

We found out in January that the villa we had booked in September was now 'double booked'. Like Deb says, how do they select who gets it and who doesn't Caused us horrendous stress, but we're not going until August, so I really feel for you.

We've now found a suitable alternative, but it's so frustrating, isn't it, when you think the original one if perfect, then have to go thru all the selection process again.

The websites mentioned by Jakey Rowling are some of the ones we looked at.

I really wouldn't worry about cancelling - there are absolutely trillions of villas out there to choose from. On most of these sites you can narrow it down by area. Emeral Island is around the Formosa area - we're staying at Indian Creek around there now and there are bucket loads to choose from.

The problem I think Susan has is that, having booked a package, she doesn't have the luxury of cancelling because she won't be able to get the flights she needs.

With it being Dial a flight though it might be itemised seperate and possible to cancel just the Villa if they cant offer anything suitable, don't know never booked with them.

Welcome to the dis , sorry it's under stressful circumstances.

OK first off don't panic, 2 weeks seems so close but you have time to work something out.
Like a few others have said is there a possibility of you cancelling the villa part of your trip? did you book a package or the flights and villa separate?
If you booked them separate I would would cancel the villa and look for something else as it's totally unacceptable. There are thousands of villas and you will find another so don't worry.

Definitely don't accept Windsor Park that is way to far out.

Let us know what they come back with.

Hi,

Just to update you on our Villa situation.....We are now in Windsor Hills

Spoke to a supervisor yesterday who said we should never have been told Windsor Park

So, really please with that-it looks like it has slightly better communal facilities than Emerald.
Thanks for all your replies, now I can get on with the planning so i'll be back shortly with lots of questions.
