I was sooooo psyched to get my new Tevas at such a great deal, BUT it appears they are not wide enough! :sad2: Where the Nylon strap comes out of the shoe by the little toe is really stiff and rubs. Does it start to soften or get broken in? Or are my feet just too wide at the toes? I do have to wear wide in some brands, but Teva's don't come in wides. I cannot affort to keep these if they rub. Otherwise they seem to be such a great shoe!

PLease check your Teva's (Pretty Rugged Nylon) that you've worn for a while and tell me if that part of the strap stays so stiff. :confused3

Otherwise does anyone know of a wider water resistant sandle with an ankle strap? I need to find a pair under $75 -preferably under or at about $50. I had gotten the Teva's for $46! I'm so bummed.

TIA

Although I don't have any tips for you, I'm just giving this a friendly bump to the top. :)

I will tell you that they will break in eventually but if the strap is in a bad place no amount of breaking in will help your little toe. I have been river guiding for about 12 years and have tried many pairs of sandals. Teva's are made for a generic fit and it is very hard to find a pair that really gives the support and comfort you need. This is one of the reasons why I come on every time I see a Teva post and tell people stay away from Teva, mostly there lower models. Try a better sandal, for instance Chaco (www.chacousa.com), or Keens. Even Merrell and Salomon make a better line up of sandals then Teva. Try going to www.rei.com and looking at both the multisport sandals and the water sport sandals. They have a great selection of quality sandal that will make you much happier in the long run.

Chaco's are great and they do come in wide sizes. I've seen a pair in regular width on sale recently at Moosejaw for $76.50, I think, but that's about as cheap as they come.

I love my Tevas, though, and they kept me very comfy in Disney. I have some pretty ruggeds as well and I think they have definitely softened up a bit over the years but I have narrow feet, so I may not be a good gauge for you. Have you tried really loosening up that strap over your toes? It really doesn't have to be tight at all.
