My DS pulled out his Disney pins tonight and we've discovered that a great deal of them are rusty. :scared1: He had them pinned to a bulletin board that was in his bedroom. I'm guessing the humidifier we used over the winter is the culprit. I tried some gentle soap and water, and some of the rust came off. Does anyone know of a gentle cleaner to use that will take off the rust, and not the enamel? We need some real Disney magic. I'm hoping someone on the DisBoards came come to the rescue?!?

I would think any product you use would hurt the finsh of the metal. The rest should be fine.
Try Coke first.
I would use a pin of no value at first but Coke (the soda) will remove rust is you let it soak overnight.
Go with putting in in a glas in the Am and check it on the hour.

Good luck

Before soaking them overnight in Coke try using Coke on a cotton ball, rub the cotton ball over the back of the pin and see if it works, if not then make the cotton ball is wet but not dripping and place the cotton ball on the back on the pin for an extended period of time, I would probably do this by placing the cotton ball on the pin and then pushing the back on, then putting the pin face up on a plate so the Coke doesn't run onto the enamel. Just in case.....I don't know that the Coke would damage the enamel but better to be safe. Let us know if this works.
