I did not write this.. it is on the website. and if you want read her story pease go and visit the website. and if you would like to help please go to website listed above i just thougt i would tell you my nieces story that happens a lot to women in the armed forces.. and if you would like to help this cause please do so... by going to the website..and emailing the congressman. and if you dont want to fine, i didnt want this thread to be mean. i just wanted to get the word out....

In 2007 I was sexually assaulted by a member of my own company who immediately confessed yet my commander did nothing. Through 15 months in Iraq , I was treated like garbage. I was demoted for what they called a "pattern of misconduct" but what I believe was my leadership trying to discredit me and teach me a lesson for going against the grain. When I returned from Iraq in December, 2008 I continued to seek out and address the cause of my mistreatment, only to further be turned into an example for questioning my chain of command. I was transferred to Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC) 319th Military Intelligence Battalion in August of 2009 as a “rehabilitative transfer.” But there has been nothing rehabilitative about it.

That is awful, but what can anyone on a message board do to help?

I don't know you and so I could never know for sure whos side of the story is accurate. Its probably some where in the middle.

:hug:I can't do much but I will offer my prayers for your niece. Hopefully, a resolution that brings peace to her can be found.

You should seriously rethink posting the names of those involved, information on those in command can be found and this can be forwarded to them - seriously, this is not helping her case. You might consider this also:

1) this is a violation of OpSec (operational security)
2) this is a violation of privacy
3) this borders on slander

You and your niece are on a slippery slope right now and involving this board does what?

I think it hurts your cause that you post the commanders name. This post should be removed.

Seriously, I'm confused, not sure what the intent behind this post is. By doing a broad Internet search it can be found that the OP (who has also posted this same open letter(?) elsewhere on the web) has also inadvertently revealed her real-life name/location/family names/relationships as well.

There are some privacy issues here for all the parties concerned.

agnes!

I didn't do a search for the names in the article, but someone who has done so could conceivably e-mail a link to this thread to them. I have no idea if any of what is posted is true, but I don't believe that this is the place to make accusations of this nature.

I don't think anyone was trying to be mean. No one really understood what you wanted us to do to help your niece. It makes much more sense now. I honestly don't think I would have made this public-if they were picking on her before won't it be worse now?

I do think what happened to her is horrible, and I hope that she gets the closure she needs.

I'm sorry, I know that it is often not easy for women in the armed services. I hope that your niece is doing okay. I don't know her story, but of course it is reported that women in the military are sometimes assaulted by their fellow servicemen and then the commanders do not properly pursue the matter. :headache: I guess when you are talking about so many thousands of people it is difficult to completely eliminate and stop it from happening, but when it does occur it should be taken very seriously.

OP, I'm glad you took out the names of people your neice is accusing. What you originally posted were very serious allegations. I know you want to support your neice, and I hope that through proper channels the truth comes out, whatever that may be, and I hope your neice finds peace and healing.

I want to give an opinion but first I have to tell you I have a DD and DSIL high up in command in another branch of the service...that being said I feel for you & your family. The best advice for your niece is to go to the chaplain/minister whatever her faith is on base for some counsel....if she has no stated faith there are still counselors that can help her...for the family do an internet search or go to the US Army main web-site and you will usually find links for military families that you can get involved with for support & advice. Best to all of you

She needs to fill in the blanks where vital info is missing within her story. It will help with her defense and gain her more support.
