What are some good movies that you recommend? We rarely go to an adult movie at the theatre so anything recent I have probably not seen.

I love just about anything but my husband does not like horror movies.

Any suggestions?

I wouldn't go to one of those at the theater either. :rotfl:

I use amazon.com to fill my Netflix queue (Best seller list, or new release list usually helps), or I browse around on IMDB. Sometimes I'll see something on the "Top" lists that I forgot I wanted to see, or I'll see something that catches my eye.

Here's some from my queue... keep in mind they're still in my queue, so I haven't seen them.. they might be quite terrible. ;)

Death at a Funeral
Brothers
Sherlock Holmes
The Book of Eli
Kick-***
Dexter: Season 4
Date Night
Coco Before Chanel
Iron Man 2
Invictus
(500) Days of Summer
Remember Me
The Lovely Bones
Where the Wild Things Are (saw this in theaters, but I want to re-watch it :goodvibes)

:lmao: I meant adult as in not a kids movie. I certainly never would go to a XXX theatre. You can just get those delivered to your home. :rotfl:

I find Netflix really difficult to browse. It seems they "hide" the most popular movies.

Using Amazon to search is a good idea.

After accidentally telling my brother several years ago that "the adult movies are in the bedroom" :scared1:, I've learned to always say "grown-up movies".:lmao:

Diray of a Wimpy Kid (as an adult i thought this was funny altho Ive never read the book and found the lead kid a litlte annoying..lol)

And yeah serioulsy if somebody explains Kick -a** to me thats great cuz I tried to google it and everybody seemed to think it was awesome. LOL I must be getting old or something..lol

let's see, i went back over our recent netflix choices, and these are the ones we liked best:

bride wars
the blind side
the proposal

night at the museum 2
star trek
taken
angels & demons
GI Joe: the rise of cobra

currently in queue, but not yet viewed:
valentine's day
death at a funeral
date night
our family wedding
killers
prince of persia: the sands of time
iron man 2
fringe season 2
the big bang theory season 3

The best way to get great movies in Netflix is to threefold:

1: Browse and add all the 5 star rated movies.
2: Click on movies recommended for you.
3: Movies similar to a particular movie you like is also shown.

Hope that helps.

I have Bucket List sitting on my counter-for a week. I need to watch that and get it back.

I use the instant streaming more than anything, especially while I am on the elliptical. Right now I am watching "Earthquake" from 1974. It's a hoot to see the clothing, cars, home decor, etc. I watch for 30 minutes while I work out, then the next day click resume and it starts where I left off. I LOVE Netflix.

Total, my Netflix queues (streaming and DVD) are over 800 movies. I watch a LOT of movies, thanks to working third shift :lmao: I watch a lot of horror, though, so my list of recommendations isn't that long for people not into horror.

If you like sci-fi, I'd recommend Pandorum. I watched it and actually really liked it.

The Losers
Iron Man 2
Law Abiding Citizen
Mr Brooks
Drag Me to Hell (horror, but it was VERY good)
Milk
The Crazies
Righteous Kill

I'm sure I have more, but, like I said, I'm a really big horror fan and most of my recommendations are horror.

I tend to watch somewhat obscure stuff...and lots of series

Movies:
Departures (subtitled) - probably one of the best movies I've seen in a long time.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (subtitled)
Sunshine Cleaning
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
Into the Wild
Rachel Getting Married
Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont
Pierrepoint

Series:
Nurse Jackie
Dexter
Six Feet Under
The Tudors

Instant Viewing:
Pillars of the Earth miniseries

I use Rotten Tomatoes for my on-going list and just keep adding whatever new is out so I get it when it's released on video. At the moment i am recovering from surgery so I'm home-bound and my Q is 8 out at a time.

1. Poirot: Murder on the Orient Express ( I LOVE Poirot)

2. My One and Only

3. Ghosts of Girlfriends Past

4. Cop Out

5. Death at a Funeral

6. Leap Year

7. Why Did I Get Married?

8. Inglourious Basterds

9. Diary of a Wimpy Kid

Next is Date Night, the Dexter series, When in Rome, Valentine's Day, The Graduate.

I just sent back It's Complicated, Up in the Air and The Devil Wears Prada, Rear Window and Knocked Up. PS I love you was wonderful and so is Bridget Jones Diary.

On streaming i just finished Veronica Mars, all the old CSIs, The Proposal, Funny Girl, A bunch of Law and Orders, Bones and Dead Like Me episodes.

PS - I can second some other pps recommendations, I Loved Spirited Away and Bucket List, The Tudors, Sherlock, Star Trek, Taken, Brothers.

I just realize how dismal the subject matter is for my list! I will add that I enjoyed The Hangover, Four Christmases, and The Blind Side. That should perk this up a bit.

I binge on TV so I'll add in Doctor Who (new series), Lost, True Blood (not everyone's thing I know), Robot Chicken (its got a sick sense of humor but that's why I love it) and Primeval. As for movies I just added The A Team to my list.

I know. I thought Nicholas Cage was awesome but I was put off by how vulgar the little girl was, and didn't really like the main kids. The development of the "bad kid" was pretty interesting, tho.

I am so glad I started this thread. There are some great suggestions for movies I wanted to see but forgot about.

Thanks everyone!

Does anyone know of the name of this movie... It was a romance and it went back in the recent past and showed how things would have been different if the couple hadn't met, or maybe it was how if just one thing had changed, how the couple wouldn't have met and their lives would have been so different. I haven't seen it - only heard about it.

Also, there was another movie (romance) that had something to do with a revolving door. Not even sure what the story line was, but dh mentioned it a long time ago and said it was good.
