I have been having problems with Internet Explorer, it will suddenly say it has encountered a problem and needs to close. When I send the error report and click on link to find more info about why this may happen I am directed to Smartpops.com, there I am told that I may need to remove "Network Essentials" from my computer. When I click remove it says it may change my browsing capabilities. I am very "dumb" when it comes to these computer problems. Anyone have any suggestions?

I believe Network Essentials is spyware that has gotten installed on your computer. Read this

I would recommend getting a copy of AdAware and also Spybot. Both of these tools remove spyware and other garbage from your system. I recommend getting both (free!) as one finds things the other does not.

I run both tools a couple times a week to make sure I've not been sharing my surfing with someone else.

Good luck!

Just a suggestion-Try restarting your computer. Whenever I have a computer problem, I always restart my computer first. This seems to help sometimes.

As Jeff said, this is often due to spyware and other garbage plug-ins you've picked up while surfing. Install those programs he mentioned and consider downloading the latest Explorer and security patches from Microsoft.

Once you get the junk off your computer, if you are using broadband get a router and a firewall-router goes between the modem and the computer and the firewall on it will catch most of the bugs-firewall on the computer will get a lot of the rest and Adaware and Spybot should get the rest.

I've had the exact same problem after I used windows update to bring my IE to version 6.0. I then downloaded all the critical updates and that seems to have helped.

However, I keep receiving illegal operations and it will say in file
KERNEL.DLL or IEXPLORE.DLL. Any suggestion for this problem?

I've got what sounds like the same problem on my work PC. I know I picked up some rogue spyware, but cleaning it didn't help the crashing issue. I'm told they'll need to spend 2 hours reimaging my pc which I don't really have at the moment. I'm limping through till things quiet down.

Oh my, I had the same exact thing happen to me. So I did the lazy thing------I bought a new computer!

(just kidding, I was looking for a new one anyway)

Your computer has been hijacked.

Here some solutions to your problem:
Go download these programs and run
Ad -ware

Spybot

Spyblaster

Go the Rewards board there is a whole thread about the computer being hijacked.

Here's the link disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=474455

Just me that thread will take care of all your computer problems. I had the fastwebfinder.com and it took care of the problem.

The thread on the rewards board is called remove all bugs and spys.
