:rolleyes1
Ok, now I admit this request may seem lame, but I am asking you to take pity on me. Those of you who do all the planning and have hubby just ask when he needs to take vacation know what I mean. We are going in May and while we are there will be celebrating my birthday and our 10th Anniversary. I am planning on ordering a cake, ballons etc. for hubby on anniversary so that is covered. But without sounding pathetic, I would like for him to do something fun for my birthday. He means well but does not plan ahead. Does anyone have any suggestions so I can casually mention how so and so on the boards did this or that? We are staying at WL and will be dining at Citricos on my birthday and Artist Point on our anniversary. We are also returning to Biergartern, trying Chef De France for the 1st time as well as Coral Reef. Tried Crystal Palace for lunch last time, as DS is crazy about Winnie so will be returning for breakfast. I appreciate any ideas.

Thanks!

Sorry I don't have any suggestions but..............I'm the husband and I am the one doing ALL of the planning for our family's trip!!

My suggestion would be to email (or write it down) the link to the DISboards and tell him that if he wants ideas on what to do for your birthday that this is a great place to ask or see what others have done. But tell him not to tell you what his name is on the boards or you'll know what he is planning. OR he can just read/search what others have done in the past without posting at all.

I just keep telling hubby here about all the stuff I read and about all the cool things people have done. If I really want something I will mention it a lot: "That Slipper dessert is so neat honey! I even saw someone say they deliver them to CRT if you call ahead." I might have to say it 10 times in a 3 month span for it to get through and eventually he might ask to see where I saw that and ask how they knew who to call. If not, I just might have to order it for myself. (haven't tried this yet, but it has worked in non-disney settings)

I did finally get him into planning the dinners by printing off all the menus from www.allearsnet.com , He even picked a restaurant that I didn't plan....unusual for him but GREAT!!!

Same here. Plus, I've been doing it for the past 20 years.

I'd love to hear some suggestions too. We're probably going to be at Disney for my birthday. (Still waiting for the official okay for time off. ) Considering we've been together 9 years and never celebrated actually on my birthday, I'd kinda like some kind of surprise.

Well, I probably wouldn't bother if I were you. My husband is just like yours (when and where do I show up for vacation :rotfl: ). I have often "wished" my DH would plan something special for me at disney (and other times). But I have come to realize that that is not the way he is "programmed" and he expresses his love in other ways. So I have "given up" trying to give him ideas on how to "surprise" me. I found out I was just setting myself up for disappointment. Either that or it wasn't the same if I had to tell him what to order for me (or plan for me).

DH does pull through sometimes and has even surprised me with things that I wouldn't have suggested. So it all works out. (Although, it hasn't happened at Disney.) For example, for Christmas he bought me a new sewing machine. I had never hinted at needed a new machine. But, he noticed in October when I was making the girls' Halloween costumes that I was struggling with my machine because it was old and broken. THAT is when it means something. It was something he noticed and I didn't have to tell him. It was very meaningful to me.

I think he should suprise you by having the white chocolate gold dusted mickey with tuxedo strawberries in your room when you get back.... :goodvibes

I know I would enjoy that.
