Help!! My DS just started Piano lessons!

Just a quick update ~ it's Sunday evening & I didn't have to tell my DS to practice his piano lesson. He did it all on his own & so happily! He can play Mary Had a Little Lamb without his book now too & not one mistake. Isn't that great??!! Sorry, Proud Mom moment here! :o

i have been playing the piano for what is now 6 years(i started when i was 7) and the excitment totally has worn off...i dread going to lessons....and i hate practicing.....stuff just gets so hard, i don't feel like dealing with it anymore.....but only till im in high school and i can happily stop

not to sound totally like, its bad, i mean i love playing the piano, even know, and i just don't like lessons...if i could just play my favorite songs over and over again, i would be so much better at practicing....they just expect so much out of you know....you can't be a little kid and learn easy pieces any more...you won't have this problem for a while now im sure....i just wish i could be young and not have to worry about knowing the piece perfectly again....

Mishetta - congratulations. Many more proud parent moments to come!

Ann - I've heard that all grandmasters start playing chess by the age of 5 or 6. I think the same is also true about music. So no, you're never too young to start playing the piano.

TalkisCheap - I took piano lessons for 14 years. I also went through a period like you where there was no excitement in the music. I quit for a while and then returned when I felt it was time. Maybe you'll feel the same when you have the choice of taking lessons or not.

Thanks for the advice, everyone. Our DS is 5 and is busy fooling with the piano (so is the 16 month old, but for another reason entirely, I'm sure). His dad and I both read music and DH plays piano very well. Maybe we'll think about lessons soon.
