HELP!!! My DD11 needs an antonym

My DD11 needs an antonym for "creed." The definition her teacher gave her was 'a set of religious beliefs or principles.' Thesaurus.com gave an antonym of denial or disavowal for the word belief when we put in creed. Anyone have any ideas?

i just did a google and the sites show that because it is defined as a "belief system", "gospel" and the like there is no antonym. with religous based words it's almost impossible to find an anotonym-and even if you do it can be argued that they don't completly fit the situation.

one of the sites i looked at spec. said not to use "athiest" or "athiesim" because while they do not believe in god, they are not nesc. without a belief system (they believe god does not exist).

i would have dd write one does not truly exist and then a short explanation of why.

The synonym for creed is belief, so the antonym, like ktpool said, is "disbelief"..

Somehow I knew that dusty degree in English Literature and Speech would be used SOMEHOW....

I don't think there really is an antonym for creed. If a creed is a list or statement of beliefs, there can be opposites of those beliefs themselves. But disbelief is the antonym of belief, not antonym of a statement of beliefs. As soon as you make a "statement of disbeliefs" that is actually a statement of beliefs--just a different creed, if you will.

I can't get anything on the sites we use regularly, sorry. I don't think it's disbelief though, based on the definition the teacher gave.

1. noun: any system of principles or beliefs
2. noun: the written body of teachings of a religious group that are generally accepted by that group

If your definition was #1 it would be, but not when you're going with the 2nd definition.

When you don't have a system of belief/s don't you have chaos? Could you use that word or something similar?

Just think what our world would be like without social mores, laws, rules, regulations and etc.
