Okay, so I finally broke down and bought my DDalmost11 the cute abercrombie jacket with the fur hood. (Well when they got marked down to 39.99 it wasn't that hard!:) ) She lives in that jacket!

Well she went sledding with some friends and came back with black grease spots, big ones, on the sleeve and back of her jacket. The jacket is down and "fur"-lined and WHITE.

Does anyone out there have any suggestions what to do to get the stains out? I am so afraid that I'll end up with big blackish-gray smudge stains if I use the wrong stain remover.

Any help would be soooo appreciated!! Thanks!

Get a product called "Goop" and follow the directions. It is actually a grease-removing hand cleaner that is also used as a laundry product to remove grease stains from fabric. Rub it on the black spots, leave it for a good 20 to 30 minutes, then launder as usual with water temp as warm as the jacket can handle. It has removed grease spots for me before. Good luck.

Try Lestoil, its a cleaning product just like pinesol but it takes grease out very good, My grandma use to swear by this and I always have some on hand for when I get lipstick on clothes or something greasy and it always works.....Good Luck!

MIL swears by a product called Lestoil for grease stains on laundry. I haven't tried it, but she nags me about it :rotfl: . Her DH was a mechanic, so I think her experience is worth reporting.
Good luck.

Lestoil...saved a turquoise and white jacket I had to have, in the 80s!

I can testify to Lestoil ... it is GREAT !!!!!!!!
I can get hambuger greese out of jeans with that and many other stains.
Last month I had a hard time finding Lestoil at the stores ... I finally just ordered a case of it from my local hardware store ... it should last me for a few years (LOL ... I am not sharring ... LOL)
I have used goop for many years too but find lestoil to be a better degreeser and it smellsl better too.

You all are the best! I am going out later today in search of Lestoil and Goop. Wish me luck...and if you have any other ideas, let me know. I'll get all the supplies at once.

Thank you!!:yay:

Have you tried Dawn dish soap? That works on most grease stains.

OT - my daughter wants to know if you got the jacket online or in store and when? She'd like to have one too.

I bought two online about a month ago for $59.90 because I wasn't sure about the size. When I returned the one that didn't fit to the mall store, it had been further reduced to $39.90 --they gave me back the $20. They still had a few left...I'm not sure about online, though.

I forgot to mention, it was abercrombie kids...not the adult store.

Good luck! Sure beats paying $128!

Now I have to try to get the darn stains out...

I've never tried it but just the other day I read on the DISboards that you should add a can of COKE to your washing maching and it will take the grease out. It is worth a shot. I just wouldn't dry it to make sure the grease is out.:goodvibes

Okay, DH called on the way home from work and asked if I needed anything and I said...."Lestoil!"

I just put it on the stains and already they're breaking down. I'm going to throw it in the washer and I'll report back!!!

Thanks, guys!!!

Lestoil is great but I find it works even better if you loosen the grease before putting the lestoil on. I use mineral spirits and rub it into the stain. Then I add lestoil work it in a bit and wash in the warmest water allowable for the item washed.

Sometimes several washings with this are required. Can you tell I have 3 boys?.....lots of grease stains!

Okay, the first round of washing is done. Almost all of the grease came out! However, I keep kicking myself for letting her have a white jacket because it really is getting dingy!

Anyway, I just repeated the Lestoil process again so I'll let you know. This time I set the washer to the soak setting so it will take a little longer...

Hooray! Almost all evidence that there was ever a grease stain on the jacket is GONE! Thanks, again! You are the best (and so is Lestoil!!!)
