I think it's been to hot in my house and as a result my tree is dying. What can I do to save it? Can it be saved? I am seriously considering buying an artificial tree next year.

Thanks!

I.V. Antibiotics?????? Mouth to Mouth resuscitation????? Defibrillation?????

GO ARTIFICIAL!!!!! :D

Sorry about the tree.

We did a real tree just once. Even then, we had to get rid of it and put up the artificial tree.

Hurry there is still time! Go out and get an artificial.:p
Santa doesn't like putting presents under dead trees...
just kidding! Sorry about the tree.

Be sure to keep the curtains/blinds near the tree closed during the day, the sunlight is VERY drying. Unless it is turning completely brown I would leave it up, more than one year I've had to re-decorate the tree, once is fun, having to do it more than once a year is complete torture.

Thanks guys. I will shut the blinds. It doesen't look that bad and it is not completely brown. It's so disappointing because it looks so pretty.

Try putting a bottle of Sprite or 7Up in the stand.
The sugar in the soda acts as plant food.

I'd be sure to water it several times a day and just be careful when turning on the lights. Lights are kind of hard on the tree, too, so just turn them on when people will appreciate it.

Next year, I'd go artificial. :) I had to get a fake tree when I married DH because he's allergic to real ones, but now I just love it. It doesn't drop needles, you don't have to hide the side with the hole against the wall, and there's no danger of it falling over. I really get the good end of the deal because I'm allergic to dust and can't assemble or put the lights on the tree. DH does all the boring hard stuff, and then I hang the ornaments. ;)

Try adding boiling water, it helps to melt the sap so the tree can absorb water. Being careful not to get burned.

I will try the hot water first and then I'll try the soda. What great ideas. I am going to start looking for an artificial one soon. We didn't turn the tree lights on last night.

We had such a hard time trying to get it to stand up right without falling over. It was not a pretty sight. We ended up taking the tree back and exchanging it for another one. Have you ever heard of such a thing? I can laugh now but it was NOT funny then.

I wouldn't be so upset if we weren't going to be entertaining over the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for all of the suggestions.

<font face="Comic Sans MS"><font color=#006400>If the water drops down too low, the bottom of the tree may 'seal up' - if that happened you might have to trim off the bottom again.

Here's hoping the other remedies help... You might crush some aspirin in that soda water to help, too.

Good luck - we used to have an artificial, and I just love our real tree we get each year now. :)

I took a tree back once. Had to completely un-decorate and then redecorate the new one. What a pain! It just wouldn't drink any water, and we put it in water right away.

You might get lucky & find an artificial tree the day after Christmas. Or - check in some of the Christmas decoration stores (around here - that 's the outdoor furniture stores) before Christmas and see it you can reserve a floor model to pick up after the holiday.
