How can I cover these so I can regulate how much light to let in and still let air in? We have the ledge and every thing. Any ideas? Thanks.

The view we have isn't near as nice as this photo.

That's a nice window! :) I'd probably go with roman shades. I've seen some blackout curtains (roman shades) that aren't a heavy fabric that do the trick. You could still allow some light in by adjusting the shades, but you wouldn't be flooded by light. Just a thought.

I feel your pain. We love our bay window, but holy crap, that thing in lets in some heat! :scared1: Not good in the winter at ALL! :scared1:

Roman shades, pleated shades, mini blinds or wooden blinds the same shade as the wood work.

How about having the glass professionally treated so that it will be tinted? I did that with quite a few windows in our home. Cuts the heat and UV rays considerably.

That's why I want to cover mine. It makes the room hotter in warmer months and in Winter, its too depressing to look out of.

So, should I get treatment(s) for each pane or cover the whole picture frame part? This window is a real pain.

Thanks for the suggestions all :goodvibes

I put in my new house, pleated shades that can be worked top down or bottom up. I keep them half way up from the bottom most times, but if it really hot, I may take them three fourth's the way up. It affords me privacy, keeps the sun at a minimum and I like the look.. the best thing is if you want the full view, you can just lower them down and they sit on the sill..

Mine doesn't have a ledge - it is actual floor space in my room -- so maybe it's a bow instead of a bay or vice versa -- regardless - I have the same problem. I had roman shades made for each individual window -- it does help -- alot of plants in front of the windows is also nice.

I have mini blinds on my bay window. There are actually 3 separate blinds...one fits in of the window areas to cover the 3 separate panes of glass. I like the mini blinds because you can tilt them up or down or pull them up totally if you want lots of light.

If you're looking for curtains, specifically, there are rods made specifically for these types of windows.

oh i have a huge bow window, put it in about a year ago and everyone keeps asking when im putting up shades/blinds. i have been looking but its so wide i was told i would have to special order. i wish i knew back then. so mine has 4 crank out bows and i was trying to figure out how to put seperate blinds up. i dont know what to do......??? i would love the ones that you can have pull up or the top down without getting into to much $$$$. any suggestions. thanks alot.......
