Help my 39" tall son grow an inch

I can honestly say that my son WAS 40 inches EXACTLY last May....we measured him MANY times at home to be sure...and the CMs refused to let him on Splash Mountain because they said he was juuuuuuust shy of 40 inches.

If it had been Thunder Mtn or Space Mtn., it would not have bothered me - but I KNEW he was 40 inches. Seriously, by their little stick his hair was grazing the top but they refused to let him on....grrrrrrrrrr. I was really irritated.

Anywho, I went and bought him a pair of chunky sandals and he just made it. With the sandals on and a tape measure...he was 41 inches. I don't know if I just had an honery CM or what.

Does anyone know how these rides are tested as far as weight goes? Last year my 4 year old was just 40 inches and was able to go on everything. But I was terrified because he weighed less than 40 lbs. On Big Thunder Mtn, the bar didn't even come close to touching his lap. He did fine but I was nervous wreck!

I'm more afraid of the weight thing for my 4 yr old as well... she's 45" but she's only 36 pounds. She'd done "big" rides at knoebels but it scared the crap out of me as well! I held on to her as tight as I could so she didn't go flying out when we caught some air!

My 3 year old was 39 1/2 inches barefoot just before our trip last september, and he had no trouble getting on any of the 40 inch rides (in crocs). I don't know if our experience was typical, but he was usually not even measured. I agree with the above posters who've said they seem to be especially careful on Soarin'. The guy there spent a long time hemming and hawing before he let him on (the people behind us were even sticking up for Milo: "sure--he's tall enough!") and then measured him AGAIN when we rode 15 minutes later. But he walked on Test Track twice without anyone giving him a second glance.
