Help...motorcycling from Orlando to Key West!

DH and I would love to come down to Florida on our motorcycle and ride to the Keys. Probably doing this next year.

We would start by taking the Auto Train from Lorton VA to Sanford FL. After this it would be all .

What time of the year would be best for this? Pleasant weather and the least amount of traffic possible is what we are looking for. We were thinking maybe February/March. Is this a good time or is there a better time to visit?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!!! Even routes that you could suggest that would be suitable for a motorcycle and not heavily traveled. I haven't been south of Orlando, with the exception to get on a cruise ship in Miami, since the late 1970's!!!!!

should start out for the end of feb and hit bike week in daytona!! we all and everyone I know have done end of feb into march. Feb 26th ~ March 7. Then Mrytal beach is May 5th. we also all just haul bikes down on trailers. so gone of the years of just riding from new england!! rough on the butt! LOL

Well, we are looking for more of a scenic and subdued vacation than bike week can afford. Can you even use "subdued" and "bike week" in the same sentence!!!!

Just looking for a nice leisurely ride down to the Keys.

Anyone???? Sights not to be missed, great little eats along the way, somewhat less congested routes to take, anything!!! Like I said, it has been a loonnnggg time since I have been down there and I am sure that I wouldn't even recognize the place.
